National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Manish Kumar

I'm a final year student at NIT Tadepalligudem and I rate my overall experience 5 out of 10. Since my mindset was research-oriented in the beginning years of my B.Tech, so I chose this institute. This institute can be a good option if you don't bother about placement; rather you are research-oriented.

I'm currently pursuing my B.Tech. in chemical engineering here in NIT Andhra Pradesh. This 4-year course deals with plant designing problems, day-to-day operations in refineries, and other chemical engineering aspects. One should be a 12th passed out student from physics, chemistry and mathematics along with a decent rank in JEE Main. I enrolled in this course because I was interested in refinery-related operations.

Currently, a total of 11 faculties are there in the department of chemical engineering. Almost all of them are PhD holders from various IITs and NITs. But most of them are not permanent faculties; rather they are ad hoc ones. Most of the faculties are friendly and helpful. Their teaching style is as same as the professors in other colleges. Everything depends on how much effort you put from your side.

NIT AP has a training and placement cell which is in connection with more than 300 companies. Placements at this institute are at good edge. For our senior batch (2018-2022), 180 companies visited on campus and 98.5% of them got placed. Deloitte USI, Capgemini, Accenture were the mass recruiters. The average package was 7 LPA and the highest package offered was 47.5 LPA by Amazon for SDE-1 role (off-campus). However, the highest on-campus was 16 LPA by KickDrum. This year our placements are going on (2019-2023) and till now the highest package offered is 28 LPA (on-campus) by ZScalar.

Yes, NIT Andhra Pradesh has accommodation facilities in the campus. It's up to the student whether he/she wants to take hostel or wants to be a day scholar. Hostel life here is quite amazing and facilities are also fine. Hostel rooms have a bed, cupboard and 24x7 high-speed internet to give a boost to the productivity of students. Since all the hostel buildings are new, infrastructure is of modern type. However, for recreational activities one has to go to indoor sports complex inside the college campus.

The campus of NIT Andhra Pradesh is of around 172 acres and consists of 2 academic blocks (SRK Block & MMM Block), one central library, three workshops, 2 laboratory complexes, 10 boys’ hostel buildings and 6 girls’ hostel buildings, 2 faculty quarter buildings. Besides these, there are indoor and outdoor sports complexes equipped with indoor gyms, one student amenities center for music club and other cultural clubs.

Honestly speaking, overall campus life at NIT Andhra Pradesh is not that good as it should be. Since there is a lack of proper interaction between juniors and seniors, a college culture is missing. If you already have a good personality, then only I will suggest you to take this college otherwise you won't get any chance to build your personality here. Currently a total of 16 clubs and associations are there in NIT AP but only few of them are known to students. This college conducts an annual techno-cultural fest 'Vulcanzy' in the month of February. There is a lot to be improved here in college life and culture.
