Competent Faculty at Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar

Overall Rating
I choose Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar because my parents suggested me to. My opinion about the College changed with time. AT first, I was not very fond of the College. But, when I started studying here I got to know the history of the College. It has produced many bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir. On top of it, the College is located at a very beautiful location.
 

Academics Rating
I choose B.Sc in Biotechnology because this industry is gradually becoming more prominent. I have got admission here through CUET entrance but non-CUET students were also accepted here later. The exams are held regularly here and because of a good management system, the admission process and the exams are smoothly managed. The academics here prepare us for real-life challenges and also teach us with ways to tackle them.
The fee is very minimal as it is a Government College. My annual fee is about Rs. 10,000/- excluding hostel charges.
 

Faculty Rating
Most of the faculty members here are recruited by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. They are all highly qualified and well-experienced. They teach on whiteboards with markers mostly but sometimes use smart boards as well. They solve problems very efficiently. There should be more focus given to classes being held on-time. The teacher student ratio can also be improved a bit.
 

Placement Rating
Most of the placements are off-campus. Hence, the College can improve a bit in terms of placements.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel is a bit old as far as infrastructure is concerned but it is good. For the hostels, they charge around Rs. 50,000/- for a year. The quality of the food offered to the students is quite average. The hostel rules are strict.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar is old but it has beautifully designed classrooms which are neat and clean. The classrooms have a capacity of around 100 per class. Library is present here as well. My favorite thing to do in the College is to play Table Tennis.
 

Campus Rating
Overall, life in the College is good. You get new friends and new connections. Meeting new people is one of a kind experience at the College. One thing that I think should be improved is providing exposure to the students. Fests are held rarely here. My experience at the College is average, there are clubs but they are not regularly managed by the College. They are generally taken care of by the students only.
