NLU Hyderabad Accepts CLAT score for admissions in B.A.LL.B (Hons.)

Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad promotes a well-balanced student life. It is an amazing experience of five years that not only prepares you for your future academically but improves you as a human being. While, selecting my University after CLAT some of the factors that I considered were the NIRF ranking and the NAAC certification, it had both. Based on the reviews and whatever I could gather from my seniors from School and the people I knew in the legal field I chose this University. A common line in all of their reviews was that after 5 years you will be a better person academically and in general. It is not just a University but a home to everyone who joins it.

I am a B.A.LL.B (Hons.) student here. It is the only bachelors programmes offered here in the field of Law. The other programmes are either Management courses or master in Law. For getting admission into this course, you need to appear for CLAT that is Common Law Admission Test. It is conducted every year by the CLAT Consortium in the month of December. The admission process of the University is actually quite simple - once the counselling process is completed by the Consortium. Once the University has been allotted to you, you will get a mail from the University’s administration where in you will get the details of the admission procedure. In the initial stage, you have to pay the fees and submit the mandatory documents on mail, this is then followed by admission process at the University where all the documents are submitted physically and admission if officially confirmed. Then after, you are allotted the class, roll number, hostel and the other essential things. The University follows a semester system. The odd semester spans from June to October and the even semester is from January to April. Exams are conducted twice in one semester that is mid-semester and end-semester exams. One of the best things at the University is the academics because it not only teaches you Law but also helps you develop an ability to think critically. It challenges your perspectives and pre-conceived notions and makes you to open to ideas that makes you future ready.

The fee for course is paid annually. All the fee heads such as the tuition, hostel, mess, etc. are paid together and costs around Rs. 3,0,000/- per annum. There is a scholarship committee in the University that helps the student to figure out the scholarships available. Apart from that, students can also take education loan.

The University houses one of the best faculties for Law in India. It has professors such as Neha Patakhji, Aruna Venkat, N. Vasanthi and Anup Surendranath. The way they teach their subjects whether it is Prof. Neha teaching Taxation or Prof. Vasanthi teaching Constitutional Law, you will be amazed by their knowledge and the way they convey their ideas to you. They make you think about Law not just as a subject that is supposed to be memorized but as a subject that is to be engaged with dynamically. The lectures are well-designed and easy to comprehend. The teacher-student ratio is high and all the professors are very approachable.

The University has its own Recruitment Coordination Committee and Internship Coordination Committee.

This is a residential University and everyone mandatorily has to live in the University’s hostel premises. They are well-built and well-managed.

The University has a huge campus of around 54 acres. It is located in the outskirts of Hyderabad and is far from the city center. All the classrooms are smart classrooms that are well-built and designed. There is a central library, multiple seminar halls, moot court hall, conference halls, etc. There is a central mess, a health center as well as sports arenas for different kinds of sports.

All in all campus life at NLU Hyderabad is amazing. The crowd is fabulous and you learn a lot from your peers and make lifelong friends. There are many clubs and committees such as the debating society, the literary and quizzing committee, sports committee and many more. Many fests and cultural events are organised by the University every semester that are worth being a part of. ‘Carpe Diem’ is the University’s annual fest that goes on for three days and is the highlight of the life of each student at the University. Campus life is worth living.
