Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore offers great opportunities for students both academically and co-scholastically. It has a NAAC accreditation of A++ and offers a Global education exposure. I chose this College due to the quality of education offered, the research opportunities available and the lab infrastructure. The College offers exchange programs as well to study abroad. The environment is good and gives the student the chance to grow and learn new things. The College offers dual majors program for my course which other Colleges don't. There are varieties of clubs and associations in the College which promote co-curricular activities. Overall, a great College for quality holistic education and research opportunities.

The course I enrolled for was B.Sc Biotechnology and Genetics. I enrolled in this course to pursue research and also because of my interest in Biotechnology and Genetics. The eligibility criteria to enrol for the course was a minimum of 50% or above in 12th Board Examination. The admission process included two rounds of interview that included an aptitude round and a general discussion. My Degree followed a semester scheme. Final exams, theory and practical, were conducted towards the end of each semester and two midterm exams were conducted; one online MCQ based and written theoretical exam, once half the semester was over. The classes were very interactive and discussions were always conducted to tackle real life challenges and talk about the recent developments and Career opportunities available.

The total fees for my course was Rs. 2,40,000/- inclusive of the registration fee, tuition fee, examination fee and lab fees. The fees had to be paid yearly, Rs. 85,000/- in the first year, Rs. 65,000/- in second and third year. The exam fee had to be paid semester wise. Scholarships were available for special category students and merit based Scholarship was available for students who scored above 80%.

For my course, the faculty was highly qualified. All of them were Ph.D. holders and have had research experience of more than 3 years in various Institutions. The teachers taught through PPTs and group discussions and conducted activities and class tests for better understanding of the topics. Most of them were friendly and approachable; they always entertained queries and doubts. They also provided extra notes and reference study material if the students asked. There were 2 teachers for one paper (subject) for a class of 55 students on an average.

The Placement Cell offered Placements for BBA and B.com students. BCA students mostly get recruited with an average package of 4 LPA.

The KJC Bangalore campus was awarded as the clean and green campus and also follows the sustainability goals. It consists of four blocks which are Science block, Humanities block, Commerce block and MBA block. Each block is spacious with a minimum of 5 floors. Each block has its library, auditorium and computer labs. Lifts are available in each block. There are more than five auditoriums and the main auditorium has a seating capacity of 2000 people and the campus has over 10 conference rooms. Each block also has its own cafeteria for students and teachers. There is a ground, a turf and also a Basketball Court. There is also a garden area where students can sit. There are a lot of plants and trees in the campus which make it clean, green and aesthetically pleasing. There is a medical room available in each block and the Science block has about 8 laboratories with the latest equipment for plant and animal tissue culture. There are media labs and recording studios also. My favourite place in the campus was the green park area that also had a little bird park there. It is very peaceful and calm.

The overall campus life is fun and balanced between studies and extracurricular activities. The College hosts more than hundred fests each year and the Ethnic Day and Teacher's Day celebrations are too much fun. There are several clubs and associations that the students can be a part of and learn about new things. These clubs organise various programs and competitions and provide certificates as well to enhance the student's profile. The College also organises various national level fests so students also get to interact with the students from different Colleges of the country. My experience about the campus life, beyond just studies, was amazing. I got to learn a lot by being a part of the Debating Society, Anchor's Association, Writer's Club, Women Empowerment Cell and Nature Club. We were also taken for educational trips and field visits to learn more. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my campus life at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore.
