GMC Mumbai is Affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS)

My College is affiliated to MUHS Nashik (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences). Overall experience is good & I am enjoying the life here. The College focuses on extracurricular activity too, so it is full of fun & actually, it is not that boring. They provide good hostel facility also. College located in South Bombay, which has its own benefits. College conducts so many events like Astitva, Antarang, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. All the festivals like Holi and Navratri are also celebrated.

I am doing MBBS from Grant Medical College Mumbai. For General category students, the cutoff go is to 7000 to 8000 AIR. For OBSC students, it goes around 10,000 to 11,000 AIR. Admission procedure takes a day here. The course is of 5. 5 year, out of which 4. 5 years are for academics and last whole year is for Internship. Every year, 4 exams are held, i.e., 2 internals, 1 prelims, and 1 University final exam. In these exams, you have to pass all the internals and prelims with minimum 50 marks (along with practical and theory to be eligible for University exam.

For General and all India quota students, the tuition fee can go upto Rs. 1,50,000/- in a year. Some Scholarships are available for economically challenged students.

Faculty is good, intelligent, and supportive, especially in the clinical branches. We learn most of the clinical things from PG resident doctors not from professors. Here, the PG residents are all India ranks & qualified to teach us. They are intelligent and helpful. My experience here related to academics is good (in all the aspects).

At the GMC Mumbai after we pass final year of MBBS, we have to finish compulsory Internship where we are offered Rs. 18,000/- in a month as a stipend. After completing the course & Internships, students would get Rs. 70,000/- to Rs. 80,000/- per month as a salary package.

Hostel is good. There are 3 hostels where Apna boys’ hostel and RM Bhatt hostel are for male students. For girls, there is a separate residence. For boys, we have to living in sharing during whole first year and after a year, you may get single room. There no in time for boys. Whereas, in time for girls is 10 PM.. Hostel fees is Rs. 4000/- per year (only room rent).

GMC Mumbai’s infrastructure is overall good but it is little old. Campus is not very big but location is prime, so clinical exposure is very nice. Classrooms are decent with basic AV aids. I will say, they will be perfect after some renovations. Library is good with enough books and reading space but it gets crowded in exam time. Labs are okay & well maintained. Hospital facilities are excellent and honestly, it is a main strength of College. Canteen is average & the food is manageable. Sports facilities are limited. Security is fine. Overall, infrastructure supports academics well but needs some modernization and better maintenance.

Campus life is overall good but little hectic because of studies and hospital work. Crowd is decent as the students are not only studious but also friendly. There are clubs too. Activities like Astitva and Antarang are held for the students. Last year, Samay Raina and Gajendra Verma came so it is good . Clinical exposure is very high so most time goes in wards. Canteen and hangout places are okay. Overall campus life is good as I focus on studies and fests equally.
