Overall Rating
Fakir Mohan University, which is situated in the Balasore district of Odisha, is a state government University. It offers numerous Postgraduate as well as an Undergraduate Law courses. Covering approximately 80 acres of land, this University has two campuses the Main New Campus at Nuapadhi and the Old Campus at Remuna. Factors like State Government University and cooperative faculties are the reasons I am studying here.

Academics Rating
The Law department has been established since 2022. In the Law department, there is both an LL.M and an Integrated B.A.LL.B (Hons) courses. For admission in Integrated programs, passing marks must be above 65% in 12th Grade and any stream student can apply for it. For an LL.M, the students must hold an LL.B or an equivalent degree from any UGC-recognised University. Here semester-wise examinations are conducted with proper checking. It helps us in preparing real-life case scenarios.
The faculty members are highly qualified professors and Ph.D scholars. The problem is that there are a limited number of faculties in the department, which pressurises them with heavy workloads. Each faculty has his/her own techniques like question answer rounds, MCQs test, surprise tests, PPT presentations, etc. All the faculty members are very friendly in nature and help us whenever we need them, be it in studies or in real-life problems.

The faculty members are highly qualified professors and PhD scholars. The problem is that there are a limited number of faculties in the department, which pressurises them with heavy workloads. Placement Rating
As we are in the Law department in a State Government University, there are no placement facilities. If one wants placement he is expected to gain practical knowledge through Internships.

Hostel Rating
The Fakir Mohan University Balasore provides separate hostels to boys and girls. Double and triple as well as 5-seated rooms are available. There are solar panels & geysers in bathroom. The mess provides good food while maintaining hygiene. The only problem is that food is given twice a day i.e., lunch and dinner, so students have to manage snacks on their own. Hostel fess is on an annual basis of Rs. 11,500/- for first year and Rs. 8650/-, from 2nd year afterwards. The girl’s hostel has strict entry timing of 7.30 PM and boys have 9 PM.

Infrastructure Rating
As the University has two campuses. All the hostels, staff quarters, and other office and academic blocks are situated on the New campus. The new campus is off-campus and hence has a distance of 11 KMs from town, reaching the old campus through the University bus. The University campus has Wi-Fi, central library, Science and Computer labs, canteens, sports complex, large playground, gardens health centre, auditoriums, and Council halls.

Campus Rating
This is a ragging-free campus. Students are decent with no city-life crowds, a peaceful environment for studies. There are more than 26 courses and thus there is a lot of crowd. There are different clubs, and cultural programs are conducted throughout the year. Many extracurricular activities, sports events, and competitions, such as essays, debates, painting, etc. are organised for students. Overall, this campus suits me well, as I want peace and study.
