My Personal Experience is Handique Girls' College Guwahati

Overall Rating
My overall experience at the College is good. Apart from education, you can take part in various extracurricular activities and sports out there like Taekwondo, Basketball, etc. Before graduating, there was a requirement to learn something extra so various courses were provided to skill up where you will be learning innovative skills via short-term courses and get a certificate. Transportation facility around College is also too good. You can find canteen and cafe out there for food. You can also play badminton and other games out there in free time.
 

Academics Rating
I choose BCA since I was interested in Computer Science a lot. Eligibility criteria were simple as if from any 10+2 stream you can join the course. Maximum capacity of BCA here is 35 students. First, you have to fill an application form online and pay some fee. Wait for the merit list to release, if your name appears on the list, which will be available in notice section of official College website, you can go and opt for on spot admission and pay the admission fees.
When I took admission, the fee was Rs. 16,000/- per semester but now, it is Rs. 20,000/- per semester. You can avail some scholarships at the Handique Girls' College Guwahati as well.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members are very good at teaching. All of them have completed Master’s degree and Ph.D degree. They teach using either projector or by writing in whiteboard. Their provided notes are of high quality standard and easy to understand. If one studies properly the provided notes, they can clear sessional and final examination. Bonding with the faculty is very good as all teachers are very friendly in our department and whenever we face any academic problem or anything, we can approach them easily for the solution.
 

Placement Rating
In Handique Girls' College Guwahati, there is a Placement Cell, which organises placement opportunities in final year or final semester. Many companies visit our College campus for placement; some of them are like HDFC, which I know, and some other companies too. In 2024, various seniors from our department got offer letter in placement drive. During our time, there were also placement drive organised but since we were left with last one semester and the jobs demanded immediate joining which was not possible for us to join so none placed.
 

Hostel Rating
Our College does provide hostel facilities. Mess food was average. There is only one girl’s hostel. Hostel fee is Rs. 16,000/- per year.
 

Infrastructure Rating
College campus is small. It would have been better if it were a bit large. There were all total 5 buildings. There were 2 libraries and many labs based on specific department. There is one canteen where you can find delicious food at reasonable prices and one cafe. Transportation facilities are good as you can find bus, magic easily the whole day or College hours. There is always guard standing at the gate and there is cacti camera around College gate.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life is good. College is crowded in the morning before class starts and during break time. There were various clubs, which you can join and perform activities related to it. Various extracurricular activities are organised from time to time in College. College week is held in the month of February every year. Every year, general freshers’ party is held in the month of September. In addition, departmental farewell party is also held in the month of April or May.

The institute has experienced teachers and staffs that will help you cover the entire syllabus and even provide extra classes if required. The college campus is well maintained, has a big basketball court, one open stage for grand functions and a canteen with affordable prices.
