Government Engineering College B.Tech Review By Jay Maheta

My experience of studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Government Engineering College Rajkot. My overall review of this college is quite positive. I have completed my B.E. in Mechanical Engineering through the Diploma to the Degree admission process from this government ran institute. It is hard to get admission in this reputed institute as it is Government Engineering College. Still, the admission process is simple, and you need to go through an online application form in ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses). After the application form, you have to fill in choices for your college according to your priorities. If you have well scored in your after 10+2 exams or Diploma, then you get admitted to this institute, followed by easy documentation and verification. Results for mid-semester exams are displayed in a couple of days. When your semester ends, you can get a Non-Objection Certificate from the head of the department to do internships or vocational training. They will sign if you are not sacrificing your lectures or labs so that you can spend your free time in improving your skills and portfolios. SSIP in this college is my personal favorite. Why? It is because this committee helps students in starting their Start-ups. Sounds great? Yes, this committee helps you finding out a proper way to launch your start-ups as well as patent applications and searching. You can get a grant of approximately 200K INR for kick-starting your business if your ideas get approved by this committee.

It is one of the GTU affiliated colleges. So, admitting to this college means you are a student of Gujarat Technological University Ahmedabad Gujarat. The current principal is Mr. Chandresh Vithlani. It is Government Institute, and you need to have an overall 75% or more grades for getting admitted to this institute. There is no entrance exam for D to D students. Students with a Science background will have to crack exams like JEE. There are two ways to get admission to GEC Rajkot. Either you can admit yourself after completing your twelfth Science, or you can get admitted through Diploma to Degree admission process.

There is a strong and well prepared academic schedule for all the courses that you can attend for full time at this institute. Mine was mechanical engineering, which requires strictly observe the growth of the students, skills, knowledge, and academic performance. However, no course in this government college has poor management or ineffective schedules. This institute has a predefined, well planned, and perfectly balanced ratio for practical experiments, assignments, and lectures to gain and increase your academic knowledge as well as practical knowledge. Each course that this institute offers to upcoming engineers has perfect schedules according to their respective fields in engineering. The practical and lectures help you attending and clearing the interviews to get your dream job.

What can I say about facilities? I do not have anything to say about them negatively. Why? It is because I have seen them always being kinds, informative, and ready to guide anytime. Everyone from my faculty is connected to industries and companies directly or indirectly. Most of them have their companies or industrial units, and others have well-established connections with industry people or owners. Everyone from my faculties has years of experience in working in the industry, and they shared their experiences to guide. They are highly motivated to share their experiences and knowledge with dedicated students. They give handholding to students if they have any doubts, and they do not let students see setbacks.

Almost all the faculties of each department have completed their PhDs or at least a Masters's Degree. Their supportive behavior and knowledge that they pass to students have motivated students to attend more classes as well as extra classes. Faculties have always shown their dedication towards lectures and attendance. So, they are punctual, and they suggested students be punctual because they want to see them getting succeeded. In short, this government institute has faculties, who are well-prepared, experienced, and graduated from reputed colleges or universities. Some faculties have experience for more than 15-20 years in teaching fields.

How can I afford to miss adding placement cell details? After all, the main doubts that students have about any institute is the placement. The training and placement cell in my college was super active all time to bring different and new placement opportunities in my college. What if you cannot find better opportunities after getting graduated? It does not sound great. But you do not need to worry about it in this institute. Each year, our faculties who are working hard for placement break records of previous years in the number of placed students and companies that arrived.

The placement activities start as soon as you are about to complete your third year of graduation. In the seventh semester, you will be attending interviews. There are opportunities like local industries, Pvt Ltd companies, Ltd companies. You also get notified when placement from other regions or states is scheduled. So, you can apply as a student of this government institute.

You will be able to see some reputed and public companies interviewing students like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, and many more. You will be guided by faculties that how you should present yourself in the placement and interviews. So you can perform well and get placed according to your academics, skills, and communication skills. Some of my batch mates have grabbed the opportunities of more than Rs. 1.5 lacs of packages per year.

As soon as your semester starts, you can apply to get admission in the Hostel. This institute has two Hostels at its back. One is for girls, and the second one is for boys. Both hostel buildings are separated by one way. However, nowadays, they are not allowing girls to the Girls hostel. The admission process is simple, and you can apply it. You get admission based on your merits. So, there is no need to worry about others getting admitted without ranks. You can download the application from the official website of this institute and fill in your details. It will process faster, and you will enjoy a government hostel facility.

The rooms in the hostel are large enough that six people can live without having issues. Still, they only allow three students per room. It helps you live like your home, and you can focus on your studies. There are facilities like beds, chairs, study tables, cupboards, and balconies. So, a student with the other two roommates does not feel crowded. There is no problem of suffocation because two windows, two doors, and one balcony always give fresh air.

The overall infrastructure is attractive. Rooms are equipped with projectors, Android TVs, sound systems. Amenities, auditorium, faculty cabins, and computer labs have an air conditioner. You cannot decide it is a government institute from outside or inside looks. There are international standards you can see that government has used to build inside compartments, classrooms, faculty cabins, auditorium, and the main buildings of each department. The key-point for any institute is the cleanliness and safety of the students and it is what you can find here. A special team of cleaning department always works for cleaning the floor, classrooms, and computer labs to keep the place free from dirt, and the atmosphere dust free.

There are separate laboratories available to perform your experiments, computer labs for programming and designing, workshops for practice, and working on your projects. Each building and department have computer labs and laboratories where you can perform your tasks. There are Amenities, library, auditorium, parking, playground, and canteen. Amenities are the most valuable part of GEC Rajkot. Here, you can get pure technical knowledge. It has a Siemens lab. We call it a Centre of Excellence. Why? It is because it is capable of bringing excellence to your technical area. You can learn software like Siemens NX. This software is useful for the students of different departments like Mechanical, Civil, and Electronics and Communication Department. You can develop the following skills. This place has air conditioners for the comfort and safety of technologies.

GEC Rajkot organizes a festival knows as Brizingr, and it covers technical events, non-technical events, Garba, cultural activities, plays, concerts, and many more fun games. It starts with planning, organizing, and directing the event. Each year students organize this event. They invite students from different colleges and universities by running a campaign in their colleges to give an invitation to participate in the event. Students can organize other events. These events give you a platform to showcase your talent and skills. We organized an event named Technospak, and each year students organize this event. The event invites companies to visit the college, projects of students passing out, and to show their talent to industry people. Events lime technical events, non-technical events, a celebration of completing their graduation, faculty retiring programs, cultural activities, and many more. It increases the experience of college life.

How can you enjoy your college life without a canteen? I have observed that one always feels uncomfortable or missing if he or she does not take tasty foods from the canteen at the time of breaks. This institute has an actively working canteen with a variety of foods. You can order Gujarati Thali, Chinese dishes, fast foods, package foods, tea, coffee, juices, cold drinks, and many more. There is no worry about fresh foods. The food that it provides is always fresh and tasty.
