At Chitkara University, the general criterion of placement companies is above 7 CGPA

My journey at Chitkara University Patiala has been a blend of personal growth, opportunities and academics. I chose this University because of its reputation in the region along with the relevant fees structure at that time. Many companies with great offers are visiting the University, so the placement support is quite strong. It focuses a lot on discipline and can be strict sometimes but this makes the person ready for the corporate world.

I chose Bachelor's in Computer Science Engineering because of the boom in tech and programming field. I got a seat through simple admission process but now students have to go through admission counselling based on their JEE rank. It's quite easy, you just have to fill the form online or you may visit the University for the same. The University conducts various mid-term and end-term examinations, so you have to be really consistent with your studies. The curriculum is up to the industry needs and the University also focuses on your aptitude, problem-solving skills, communication skills and project-based learning which makes you interview ready.

The academics fee for my course that I paid was around Rs. 82,000/- per semester for all the eight semesters. For hostel, the charges depend on the type of room chosen and its occupancy. There are both AC and non-AC rooms available. I was in the non-AC 4 seater room with attached washroom and I paid an amount of around Rs. 66,000/- per semester, which includes the mess and laundry charges. There are no scholarships in the University. Above all you have to pay additional Rs. 10,000/- as registration fees at the time of your admission.

The University is working with various learning platforms which provide additional support to the students. The faculty is very supportive. They have the background of M.Tech or Ph.D with the exposure to some well-renowned IT companies. The teaching method depends on the subject taught like for coding subjects, it is generally performing on platforms like LeetCode. For aptitude based subjects, it's all done through black boards. So, there is a mix of all the teaching methods.

Our University has a strong placement cell. Many companies with great packages visit the University with offers for various technical and non-technical roles. The general criterion for most of the companies is CGPA above 7, and having at least 70% marks in 10+2. Some of the companies that visit the University are Juspay, Emerson, ServiceNow, GeekyAnts, Wissen and more. For the placements, you have be well-versed with computer fundamentals and your participation in various events like hackathons and sports will also play a role in delivering a good impression. I got placed in KPIT Technologies and I had a great interview experience.

The University provides residential facilities inside the campus only. The girls and boys live in separate hostels. The working staff in girl’s hostel is female and in boys hostel is male. For laundry, the dedicated staff comes to collect your clothes from the room itself. There are different rooms available at different fee structure. The mess food is really nice. You get meals four times a day, i.e., Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks and Dinner. The hostel timings change from season to season. In summers, students can roam around in the campus by 12 AM, while in winters students need to get back to their rooms by 10 PM.

There is a different building for each course at Chitkara University Patiala. The classrooms are well-lit and are equipped with proper seating arrangements and projectors. There are ample facilities available for students throughout the campus. Every corner has water coolers to keep up with hydration goals of students. The food court is huge with multiple cuisine options. The sports area is separate containing indoor game facilities for sports like Carrom, Chess, Billiards and there are facilities for various outdoor sports too like the University has a dedicated Basketball court, Volleyball court, Skating Arena, Tennis court, etc.

My overall campus life is amazing. I made a good bunch of friends at the University which added to my personal experience. The University campus is a bit small considering the number of students. There are various cultural and technical clubs along with E-Cell where innovative ideas are taken to reality. The University also organizes various hosteller nights, night jamming sessions at food courts, etc. ‘Rangrezz’ is the annual University fest, which is also very vibrant and amazing.
