Chitkara University Rajpura Hostel Life

Overall experience at Chitkara University is great except the fact that hostellers have to attend classes at night time i.e. 4:10-9:30, which is very inconvenient as most of us are not used to this shift in timings, but we still manage to study and have fun regardless. I chose this institute because it was close to my home and because I did my schooling from Chitkara International School. The education over here is up to its reputation, it depends upon the students if they want to study or not, the teachers are great and helpful. The infrastructure is clean, providing a suitable environment for learning.

I’m a student of BE CSE in AI, I chose this stream due to the current boom in Artificial Intelligence. The only entry requirements is that you must have given your JEE and must have scored 75%+ marks in your 12th boards to join into BE. For the admission process students have to visit Chitkara International School. The exam pattern is very unusual, there are exams almost every other week, giving students no rest, if the exams were taken all at once it would have been better. Students need to study on their own to excel at real-life challenges.

Yearly academic fee of my course is 3 lakhs, upon this there is 1.5 lakh for hostel fee per year. No, there is no scholarship provided by the university.

Most of the faculty members are well educated and suitable for our studies, a few of them lack teaching skills which creates some issues, but the rest is fine. The teaching method includes the use of projector and blackboard. There is a good teacher student ratio. Some faculty members are really approachable but some seem hard to approach, at the end it depends upon the student’s confidence. All faculty members are well educated with excellent problem solving skills.

Core branches at Chitkara University like CSE, MBA and other engineering curriculums have good packages. Companies like Wipro, Infosys etc come on campus to recruit students. Due to high academic discipline students get good packages, 8 LPA average. Chitkara is a ground open for exploring and every student here will leave with a good package or become a good future leader.

Yes, hostel faculty is provided. Fees for a year are 1.5 lakhs approx, this increases per year depending on student intake. Student intake is very high, there are over 1500 students in hostel alone. Curfew timings are 12 am. Mess food is eatable, not bad, but not that good. Girls and boys have different hostels located at different areas.

Very elite and clean infrastructure. The campus size is of around 70 acres, the locality isn’t very nice, there is a hospital right in front of the university, but there is nothing to explore near the university, you would have to go to Chandigarh to enjoy your weekends. Library is present, but is always crowded during day, so it’s better to study at your hostel room during day. For day scholars library might be their best option, it’s not very big. There are 2 food courts present at Chitkara University, and canteen facility is good. It is a very secure campus, with good medical facilities. Good sports facilities are provided, including basketball, volleyball, skating etc. My favorite thing is the basketball court.

My overall campus life is good. There is a mix of college crowd, some good, and some bad. There are many clubs, sadly i didn’t take part in any of them, but from what I have heard they are nice. There are many extracurricular activities organised by the college clubs. The fests over here are the best, you enjoy yourself the most during these fests. I would rate my college experience 7/10.
