Just before you opt for any college, I should let you know that it does not matter which college or stream you choose. What matters is how you develop and outgrow yourself through the college years as many opportunities will come and go. STCET is a 3-tier college but it maintains a satisfactory academic standard. The college fosters too much discipline rather than a cheerful campus life like the ones you find in Bollywood movies. The reinforcements of rules and regulations might take the hell out of you sometimes but will eventually boost your personal growth.

I enrolled for the B.Tech curriculum on ECE in 2020. STCET has 5 streams now namely CSE, IT, ECE, EE, and AI/ML. Previously there were only 4 streams. In 2020, the cutoff rank was much more than the previous years. Since I got a WBJEE Rank of below 14,000 I got enlisted for ECE in the very first round of counseling. The total amount that you need to pay for 4 years of college is around 4 LPA. So average fees per year would be 1 LPA. For the 1st semester, you will have to pay near about Rs. 60,000, which would be balanced out in the 2nd semester. The total fee structure is much lesser than other private colleges.

The faculty members in ECE of STCET are highly qualified. But their teaching style might bore you and you will end up learning from YouTube videos at the end of the semesters. They will provide necessary notes and PPTs. The faculty members are supportive and you can always avail them if you have any doubt.

This college has a 97% placement guarantee. If you don't have any backlogs or you have managed to clear all the backlogs then you can sit for on-campus placements. But a very handful of companies come to this college compared to other colleges. Yet the packages they offer are way more than you can imagine. From 4 LPA to 10 LPA, companies come to offer pre-placement internships at the end of 3rd year.

St. Thomas' does not have any residential facilities. You have to look for PGs or flats nearby the locality.

You can also avail books from book bank for every semester from the library. There are abundant PCs to work on your personal projects. You also get exposure in organizations like IEEE or IEI for learning materials. Multiple workshops are held in the seminar hall. Hackathons and other project-making competitions are organized where students can showcase their projects. But unfortunately no inter-college competitions are held. You can always go to other colleges for participation.

Sadly in STCET, there is no such thing as "campus life". The only fest that we consider is the farewell party that the juniors arrange for the passing seniors. No fests occur in this college. Although cultural events like Rabindra Jayanti Celebration and Women's Day celebration are held in the college. The only happening thing about STCET is the sports. Sports are a very big deal in this college. We have Football, Cricket, Badminton, and Table Tennis as the departmental sports. Apart from that there is one Annual Sports Day. There is a beautiful playground and a badminton court. There are table tennis boards in each of the common rooms.
