SVS Medical College MBBS Review By Ausali Shivani

SVS Medical College is the oldest private medical College in Telangana and the SVS Hospital being even older than college itself. Thousands of patients presenting so many cases come from all over Mahabubnagar and other places to visit OPD everyday, which gives the students excellent patient exposure providing perfect learning atmosphere.

The course I'm going to talk about is MBBS. It takes 4 years and 6 months to complete the course supplemented by 1 year of compulsory internship. Good amount of marks and rank in NEET examination is required to secure a seat in this college in all the three categories i.e. A, B and C. College is strict and conducts periodic assessments like internals (include both theory exams and practical exams) and formative assessments . The minimum pass percentage is 50% and the level of difficulty is moderate to high that challenges students and forces them to manage time along with covering a large amount of syllabus.

This is the best thing in SVS. The faculty is strict when it comes to discipline and friendly to one who wants to expand their knowledge on the subject. Individual care is taken for each pupil and their performance is reviewed periodically. Lectures provided by faculty members are of top notch quality. Each professor teaching in SVS has an experience of more than 20 years. They are always open for doubts and take extra time from their schedule to clarify doubts. Each professor has their own way of teaching. The presentations given by them are very attractive since they use different Gifs and animated videos which make the students to concentrate and understand the concepts better.

The UG placement is based on rank secured in NEET UG examination. Around 150 students get selected every year for the course of MBBS. The PG placement offers courses in 13 different branches of MBBS. The students studied in SVS get seats in top colleges based on their merit and ability performed in NEET PG examination.

Hostel is vast with spacious rooms. Minimum two and maximum three members are allotted per room. Each room has its own attached washroom. The hostel also has a gym and a garden area, which makes it nature friendly and green. There are elevators, study rooms, and rooms that are cleaned every day. There is enough freedom for the hostlers to go out of the campus to shop their basic necessities in the given time scale. However, they need to collect Outpass if they have to go out for more than an hour which is a compulsion. Food is good and hygienic and non-vegetarian food is provided three times a week. However, there is no Wi-Fi in hostel and geysers are not present in attached washrooms instead they're outside the rooms which makes it difficult to carry hot water buckets to rooms.

SVS medical College has a vast infrastructure in both hospital and college. Hospital is very vast and each block related to its own department (radiology block, ophthalmology block, etc.) College is equally vast. It also has huge auditorium which can accommodate 800 people. Each department in the college has their own space. There are lecture galleries where lectures take place which can accommodate over 350 students. Labs for individual departments are separate and well equipped with sufficient laboratory equipments. Honestly, it's a great exercise walking around the campus everyday! Plus, the college has so many trees which makes the environment calm and cool.

My journey in SVS medical College has been very exciting. There were both ups and downs in the college. The college has very exciting programs which relieves stress. Every year, fest is conducted in the college which lasts for 1week. Other engagement activities such as medical quizzes, medical fests are also conducted in MBBS, which are equally exciting. The college also celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi and other festivals. The time spent in these events is unforgettable and definitely is most exciting time of the year!!!
