CVR College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Lasya Gajavelli

Hi, I’m a graduate of CVR College of Engineering, Ranga Reddy. It is a UGC Autonomous Institute and it's a JNTU Affiliated College. Our College is accredited by NAAC with an 'A' Grade from 2016 to 2020. Our college was built in back 2000 and is one of the top 10 private colleges in Telangana. In order to get into CVR, you need to attempt an entrance exam "Eamcet" where you need to score a rank around 4-5k (Open category) in the first phase of counseling.

CVR rank has moved up a few places during the recent EAMCET 2020 first phase counseling to reach the Top five among private colleges. Of course, you need to qualify 12 boards for sure. During counseling, our documents get verified. Post verification, we can get into college. As it is a private college, management seats are also available to get into CVR. Our college is good for campus placements. But for me, the drawback would be our college mostly focuses on studies than sports. Huge fines are imposed if anyone is irregular or break their rules. I'd say our college is one of the strict colleges in Telangana.

As I'm from Computer Science and Engineering background so, for us the eligibility criteria to get into college is getting a 5k or less rank in Eamcet. As I'm passionate about technology, I took this course. The campus offers many pieces of training for CSE students like Smart Interviews training on coding by Amit Bansal and many more.

Professors have good command over their knowledge, but Assistant professors are not that knowledgeable, and everyone is always approachable. They encourage us to participate in many competitions such as SMART INDIA HACKATHON and many other hackathons to get industry experience. I took part in almost every hackathon. This course really helped me by sharping my mental skills. If you are a techie who wants to experiment with software, then no doubt you can join this course at this college.

As I'm from the Computer Science department, my department contains around 40 plus faculty. A total of around 200 plus faculties are present on the campus. Most of the Professors and few Associate Professors are done with their Ph.D. and the remaining are done with their M.Tech. Mainly Professors and few Associate Professors are good with their knowledge. CVR has good faculty who keeps on learning and teaching new things to us and motivating us to do better to achieve our goals. I am thankful to a few teachers in my course that helped me to clarify some of the difficult subjects and always approachable.

Our campus has an efficient placement department and the Head of the Placement Office is Ms. Vijaya Mair. She is an Ace of CVR who maintains a good relationship with companies and tries to grab every other opportunity for getting students placed in reputed companies. She used to be very strict regarding placements. We used to put into different pieces of training to be company ready. Almost everyone gets placed and that’s the beauty of CVR. Many students were offered internships in reputed companies.

Companies like Amazon, Accenture, Epam, Virtusa, HCL, OpenText, ServiceNow, Quikr, ClearTrip, and many more visit our campus for recruiting. During my batch, the highest package was provided by Amazon. As I'm from a Computer science background, I got placed in 4 big companies. During our batch the average salary was Rs. 3.6 LPA.

Our College offers accommodation facilities separately for both boys and girls within the campus. The annual fees of the hostel would be range around INR 80,000. There is a limited intake of students, which are around 300. Normally, each room has 4 members. The campus hostel is maintained moderately as every other hostel. It has all the basic facilities such as water supply, WI-FI facility, washrooms, and food.

Canteen food is great, but hostel food is no so great it’s just okay. During Sunday’s nonveg is available and veg is available every day. As the hostel is on campus, the hostel students have access to the gym, indoor and outdoor games even after college hours. It has round the clock security.

CVR College is an Autonomous College spread over an area of 36,000 sqm. The campus has 6 buildings, namely – Main Block, PG Block, First Year Block, CSE Block, Placement Cell, and Mechanical Block. We even have a park most of the year it doesn’t look like a park. There are around 60 buses, and these are parked in Bus Bay. The campus has 60 plus spacious classrooms and most of the classrooms are equipped with projectors. Labs and seminar halls are equipped with Air conditioners. Most Labs are well equipped. Most of the labs have internet access. Labs are always supported by power back-up from generators. So, power cuts are not at all a problem. There is a dedicated three-storied building for the library. The library contains almost every book you need. Our library contains many books, journals, and a few novels too. We even have Digital Library which was recently launched. We don’t have a spacious Auditorium. Look and feel wise I can give 6/10 for the auditorium. All kinds of activities from cultural activities to placement activities are held there.

We even have CVR Square, where students used to perform all cultural activities and fests. Fests are fun to have. As the college is on the outskirts, there are not many shops available there. It would be a problem if you need anything at the moment. We have both Outdoor and Indoor games facilities. Indoor games include table tennis and caroms. Outdoor games include cricket, Basketball, Throw Ball, and Volleyball. We have a huge Cricket ground with floodlights. Even though we have these grounds, but our college does not give much preference to sports. Whenever we need a doctor, there is always a doctor in the medical room. If we fall sick, we can take a rest in the medical room. Medical facilities are always on point. There will be 2-3 beds available to take rest in the medical room. Here comes the beauty of CVR, Our Cafeteria, it’s a three-storied building where the top floor is for placement cell. Our College is famous for its Canteen. I can easily give 10/10 points when it comes to our canteen. It looks great with creative infrastructure. The food is great too. We have juice point, salads, non-veg and veg are available every day, ice-cream point, Frankie rolls, basic store for all kinds of chips and biscuits even stationery items are available there. So yeah, that pretty much sums up our canteen.

College is quite a spacious. We celebrate our fests in the college itself. We normally have 3 main fests- Ciencia, it’s a two-day fest with technical and non-technical events; Traditional day, students need to dress up in their traditional attires and Annual Day, it’s a cultural fest with DJ Night at the end of the day. We even used to have a flash mob to promote our Ciencia fest to welcome to our college. We start preparing for the flash mob almost one month prior. We perform flash mob in any famous mall as well as on the first day of Ciencia. These fests usually start in December and end in March. Apart from these fests, we used to even have department fests.

CSE never had a department fest, but in 2020 even we got permission to showcase our department skills as "CYPHER". So that sums up everything about our campus fest. Fests are fun, I used to enjoy them a lot, who don’t! We used to have workshops, but rarely. We don’t have many clubs such as dance club – soul steppers, singing club, CSI – it’s a technical club for CSE department and a few more. Overall, I'd rate the campus life in CVR a 7 out of 10.
