Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy B.Pharm Review By Shriyansh Gupta

Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy is governed by Maharana Pratap Group of Colleges. The pharmaceutical college was established in the year 2005. The college is affiliated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. The college is huge as there are many institutes inside the campus.

The pharmacy institute has only 100 seats and therefore you need to score big in your H.S.C. exams to get admission in this decorated college. In my time the cut off was 88% and it is now in 90%. The college has also taught us the importance of being associated with Pharma studies as the occupation rise in this sector is way above other sectors. The college believes in building students who can contribute to the society. I am in my 3rd year and in the next and the final year all the students undergo compulsory on-field training in renowned pharma names such as Fresenius Kabi, Sparc (Sun Pharma Advance Research Company), and Wockhardt Ltd among others. The college has given me all the facilities and has made sure that all the students get the best attention. As a result, the college accommodates only 100 students every year. I can’t thank enough my college for the way they have made me realize the importance of studies.

B. Pharm is mostly opted by the students who fail to get medical seat and so is the case with me. However, I don’t regret as the way college has taught me, I know that I will be able to contribute for a healthier country after studying B. Pharm at Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy. The portions are huge and therefore the classes are conducted for 8 hours daily. Besides that we are kept engaged with monthly seminars and other extra classes. However, after college though, we don’t have to toil hard on studies. If you are attentive in the classes, I don’t think you will have to look beyond that.

At least I think it that way and since all the students who enroll for this course are intelligent only. I am not boasting but you can imagine the study quotient as all the students are above 90% scorer in H.S.C. Academic wise the college has built an infrastructure that I guarantee none in Uttar Pradesh has. The classrooms are digital and the teachers are excellent. Yes it gives you a feel of school life but to attain success you have to be harsh on yourself. If I talk about my experience they have been splendid at this beautiful college and I wish people start taking B. Pharm seriously.

All the faculty members are just too good. Having said that the student faculty ratio is in single digit. Hence what else one can ask for. The students are divided in 2 sections and each section comprising of 50 students. The faculty members are different for each section and sometimes they come to take proxy lectures. In all there are 8 professors for 50 students and plus all the faculty members are great. Hence, you can imagine the quality of studies that’s being imparted in students.

We are obliged that we can meet each faculty members personally in case of doubts. Barring one and I wish I could take the name all faculty members are friendly. They also conduct competitions between the two sections as our teachers set papers for the other section and likewise. Thus the faculty make sure that fierce competition is maintained and students have enough motivation to score big. All thanks to our faculty members as they always keep motivating us and make sure that we study hard and to the best of our ability. The faculty members I would say are genius as they know how to bring best out of each student. Thus whatever our college students have achieved thus far, they will always thank the faculty of our college for that.

Since, the students have to go for a mandatory training the college has also taken care that each student is placed. The big guns from Indian pharma sector such as Lupin, Alkem Labs, Ipca labs, and Sun Pharma among many others have been our top recruiters for many years for now. I even asked one senior that how come in a place like Kanpur all these big companies come and he replied well that we should thank the management for that. They have taken care of this aspect and now B. Pharm students are not just confined to opening medical stores.

The average package that was bagged by batch of 2019-20 was around Rs. 3.5 lakhs. This I would say is a great number as at least we get the opportunity to work in some of the top companies of our sectors. Imagine a Kanpur boy working in Halol unit of Sun Pharma for work. It has never been possible before but all thanks to placement cell of Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy who have made sure that their students always work on the top companies and bring laurels in their field.

Even though they only accommodate 100 students they have built 2 separate hostel buildings for pharma students. In my class 40 students have come from different parts of the state and therefore hostel has served as a great boon for them. At such a reasonable price the students get boarding and lodging facility. The hostel building has 100 rooms and it can accommodate up to 300 students. Some rooms are on twin sharing while some on triple sharing. All the rooms have fans and tube lights. A good study table and cupboard is being provided to students and the bathrooms are attached.

Gone are the days when we used to have common bathrooms in the hostel. Since, I am a Kanpur local, I have never seen hostel rooms from inside and all the information that I have shared is on the basis of what I have heard. The hostel provides nutritious food along with spacious rooms is all what I can say. The boys and girls hostel building are similar but girls hostel have lesser rooms.

The college is spread in an area of more than 50 acres. There are 12 buildings in the college campus as each department has their own building and once you enter, you will feel like you have entered in a mall. All the buildings are new and some of them are even glass buildings. The college is located near Mandhana and is a little far from the main city. However, the connectivity is good as I easily get a shuttle auto from college to my home. The college campus has as many as 6 canteens and our favorite is the cafeteria where we spend after college hours. Our college building has B. Pharm and dental course classes being conducted.

The best part is that one huge canteen is underneath our building and therefore we don’t have to wander much in case we feel like eating something. Our building has a huge recreation room and as many as 6 labs to go with. There are indoor and outdoor sporting facilities as well. The indoor games include table tennis and badminton while the huge playground is multi-purpose. The students play Volleyball, Football and cricket in the 2 grounds that are located inside the campus. The college campus is totally Wi-Fi and round the clock security is available at the campus. Also, I forgot to mention that there’s a hospital as well inside the college campus.

The campus life is good as classes commence from 9 am to 4 pm. Yes they are lengthy but we don’t have a choice. The teachers are fun to be around and so are the students. The best part is that you can enter the college campus only if you have a valid id card and therefore no outsiders are accommodated. This is the best part and probably security wise this is the best measure that a college can take. I have heard this is a common practice but having seen it personally I can say it feels so secured when you know only college students are inside the campus. Having said that the facilities are premium at the campus and so is the security. Like many big city colleges our college do host cultural and spots events.

Medical students are been a flavor at the cultural program as we sweep in almost all the competitions. Yes sports is where we lag behind but it doesn’t bother as it all played in good spirit. I don’t see any problem or change in the plan or structure the way campus has been built or operated. I don’t think I would have been at a better place than this beautiful campus of Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy. All the students are at peace with each other and mostly all of them mind their own business as all of them seem determined. It actually gives you a vibe that sacrifices that we are making now will ripe at some point in life. I guess I have bragged enough and this is what my beautiful college is all about. Apply at Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy and see the way you move ahead in life. I am sure that I will scale new highs as I have the backing of one of the best colleges in the country.
