Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce B.Com Review By Swati Saboo

The college as a whole is a package of life. There is an amount of strictness, some let go things and some beyond our control kind of things is what Symbiosis is all about. Heard a lot about it and after my parents agreed on sending me outside, I told them that Symbiosis is where I will be studying. After entering such a lively campus my knees got weak as I couldn’t have imagined a better place than this for studies.

The students from all corners in India and from various countries were present and this was the first time I actually interacted with foreigners. It was as big opportunity that can come anyone’s way as the college had almost everything. From toppers to models, Symbiosis had everything and the best part was that college itself supported students to engage in interest of their endeavor.

The college has done exceedingly well in making sure that they produce toppers at the Pune University level. Though I will agree that college is not at all strict but stands with the one who have actually joined this college for studies. After college hours, we were taken to the library to collect enough study materials and our teachers also accompanied with us.

The college cut off list may be not as high as the one in Delhi University but still is good enough to be boasted about. The classrooms are big and each student gets their own bench but most of them remains empty as only handful of students attend college. The college has done its part and if the students are not sincere I don’t think college can do anything about it.

The faculty members were one of the best and someone who has the sharpest mind. Our college faculty was knowledgeable and managing over 500 students was no joke. Yes the faculty to student ratio was less and that may be the reason for less strictness. All in all, I think all the faculty members right from the first year to the final had their nose in front. Not just the studies but supported us in all that we did and never made the students feel left out.

The faculty also helped us when the companies visited the campus as how to present ourselves while placements. The faculty did their part wonderfully well and don’t think I can thank them enough.

Placement wise the college has done great but for all the other colleges except ours. Just 4 companies visited during my time and I was one of the lucky ones to be selected though I didn’t join as my parents wanted me back home. Mostly banks and financial institutions come and they look for B.Com students for odd jobs and that is why they recruit. The pay package was around Rs. 3 lakhs and don’t think after studying in Symbiosis one should settle for that.

Aah, my parents wanted to take me back as soon as they knew that there’s no girls hostel of the college. There’s just one hostel which is reserved for students coming from abroad. It became so difficult for me to actually explain my parents that I can stay outdoors. Pune is safe and girls can travel at any point in time alone so rather than leaving this beautiful college for not having hostel one should cherish that Pune as a whole has a lot of facilities for students and the girls PG in Model town where I stayed for 3 years is ideal. The place is also near the college and for girls coming from outside it is a good option.

The campus area is quite small but many college have moved out from the campus and as per what I have heard only commerce college will stay in that campus as rest other courses are under Symbiosis Deemed University. The college has a nice library, good canteens and a huge tree at the center that was planted during the time of college inception.

The classrooms are good and so is the building lobby. There are washrooms in each floor and water coolers as well. There’s also a lift as the college building is a 4 storied building but is accessible only by staff. Wish there was some playing area as other than that there’s nothing that there’s nothing that college don’t have in terms of providing students enough to get them going.

Needless to say that I had the best time at the campus as there been different departments for everything. If you are interested in sports you can approach them, if you are god in acting, you can join the drama club likewise there were enough opportunities to explore other than studying. Students mostly were from privileged backgrounds and mostly sophisticated apart from some localities who used to come and fight in the campus.

Girls at Symbiosis did get some extra attention as students from various colleges used to visit Symbiosis just to check the girls out. I had fun the entire 3 years and a place which I believe is meant for fun. If you are someone who wants to see students from all states of India then please do join this college. How can I forget the foreigners as I met some of the sweetest persons and made friends with them.
