VIT Bhopal University B.Tech Review By Anshu Rathore

VIT Bhopal, another branch of VIT University with a VIT brand name. I heard about VIT in my drop year. Then I started searching about this, everyone on internet posted positive reviews on college that made my mind to take interest in this University. Then college entrance exam started, I appeared in management exams like MHT-CET, JEE mains, JEE Advanced, CUET, VITEEE, etc. but unfortunately I didn't scored good in any college, I got 22k rank in VITEEE and the last option I was left with is taking admission in VIT but my rank was low so I was not getting in VIT Chennai and Vellore in CSE in category 1 so therefore I opted VIT Bhopal CSE in cat 1 and I joined this college. My overall experience till now is average in this college.

I will tell you everything about VIT Bhopal. To enter in this college, you need to give VITEEE, doesn't matter what rank you, you will surely get admission in this college, although you may need to pay more fee. There is different fee structure for different rank holder in VITEEE. For good rank holder you will get admission in cat 1 which cost around 2lakh then for lower ranker they will gate admission in cat 2 which cost around 3.5 lakh and the cat increase with rank. There is one more criteria to get admission in this college is you need to score min 60% aggregate in PCM in class 12th. There is one more thing, I want to tell that I heard that they also provide direct admission, you just need to talk to them, and they provide admission in Cat 1, and even you don't need to give VITEEE, which is quite unbelievable, the thing I said now is not confirmed, I just heard from some of the mouths here. Now I want to tell you about the courses they offer here, B.Tech (CSE core), B.Tech (CSE with 6-7 different specialization), B.Tech (ECE core and one specialization), B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering), B.Arch, BBA, etc.

VIT allows choosing the faculty with your choices, they have many faculty and they allow students to choose faculty with their chose through FFCS. Now coming to behavior of teacher, the behavior of teacher here is good to everyone although there may be some exceptions, they are ready to help you out in every situation. According to university every teacher here is PhD holder, and this seems in their knowledge.

Ok so placement is one of the big reasons, students take admission in VIT and my answer is yes, that they provide placements, loot of companies come here and hire students, but it all depends on your skills and CGPA. We have placement cells here and they prepare the students for placement, I have even heard from my friends who have fourth year senior as roommates that they the seniors in their room are awake for whole night because the placement cell was taking their mock interviews. Ok now come to negative points.The student's intake of VIT Bhopal this year (2023) is 5000, now imagine is it possible for a college to make all the students place at CTC of 12 LPA or more, obviously no. According to seniors I have heard that around 50% student here get CTC of more than 8 LPA and remaining get less then 8lpa, which is sad to hear. So yes, it's not easy to get a good CTC from here, you need to work hard to get good money.

They have around 6 types of non ac room rooms i.e., 2, 3 and 4 bedded flat and 4, 6 and 8 bedded bunkers. The rooms here are good, they have enough space. This college has 6 blocks of hostel in which hostel block 1 is comes under normal hostel and other blocks comes under premium category. The difference between block 1 and others is food, block 1 mess food is not as good as other blocks (all other blocks have same mess) and the cleanliness, block 1 bathrooms smells so bad that you can't even properly do your regular things. The price difference between block 1 and other is around 10k in same room type. They also have AC rooms in 2, 3 and 4 bedded. Now I want to tell you about the rules of the hostel. You are not allowed to go outside campus, only two outings are allowed per months, and you need to take permission from your Procter before 2 days of outing and you need to return to college before 5 pm. Very frustrating. You need to enter in your block before 9:15pm. The guards here are so strict. You are not allowed to go in other rooms after 10 pm. We have some sports grounds in hostels like basketball, badminton, volleyball, cricket nets, etc.

Infrastructure is biggest negative point of this college. This college is still under construction. Hostel Block 4, 5 and 6 are not still fully constructed and students are leaving in it, since the construction is going on their block, the noise due to construction disturbs them so much. Blocks 5 and 6 don't even have lifts in them. So yes, college is not fully constructed. Now let me tell you what we have in our college. We have 1 academic block (AB), 2 girls' hostel (one is completely constructed and 2nd one is under construction), 6 boys' hostel, 2 canteens (near AB), 1 stationary, 1 general Store, 1 canteen in girls' hostel, 1 canteen in boys hostel block 1 and 1 canteen near block 2.

Campus Life is not so good in this college. We have clubs, many of them are inactive, some of them are active and they do something new. There are lot of fines for small things, they are very strict for every rule, there is lot of competition in everything, if you are sportsman then there is bad news for you that although they have facility for you, but they don't encourage you to play like there is no sports compilation, they don't take their team anywhere. One more thing, there is average 1 suicide case every year here. In last, I just want to tell you that, yes, this college will provide you opportunity, but you need to fight tough for that and there is lot for pressure on the students studying here.
