Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce B.Sc Review By Azmat Azim Shaikh

I have completed my HSC from Poona college itself and so I'm quite familiar with the faculty and staff. Poona College is one of the oldest, yet reputed institutes located in Pune. It offers various plain courses like B.Sc, B.Com, BA, as well as professional courses BBA, BCS, MBA. I have taken B.Sc here, and as per my experience till now the faculty is quite understanding, professional, and qualified. All the faculty members are well qualified; some have completed their PhD, while some are Pursuing PhD in their respective fields. Poona college is only known for its excellent facilities staff, as each one of them have a unique teaching method that students can understand. Unlike other college's faculties which focus on completing the syllabus, Poona college is ahead in this field, for they focus on quality education rather than finishing the syllabus. The college is quite beautiful and has a fountain in the middle, with beautiful trees all around the campus; we have well equipped science laboratories for science students and well-equipped computer labs as well. The toilets in the college are also cleansed every day, unlike other institutes, which have unhygienic one. Again, I particularly chose this institute as it's affordable for me as well as near to my home. I will suggest students to opt for this institution only if they agree with the above points I mentioned. If you are fine skipping the fests, etc. and would want to focus on studies you can think as an option. Though, I would like to mention - the students are not so good, and you may face problems making genuinely good friends here, but if you seriously want to study, the professors here will genuinely try their best to help you in your studies as well as further life.

The plain Undergraduate courses like B.Sc have Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as specialization. Unlike other good institutes, there is no requirement that you have to have such percentage, etc. You can easily get admission here in plain courses, but there's merit-based admission for professional courses Like B.Sc Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, etc. My motive of taking a B.Sc degree is to gain knowledge in my respective specialization and study further a master's program. And the best college for pursuing B.Sc in my known was Poona college only, due to its excellent teaching staff and affordable fees. And recently it got accredited A+ grade by NAAC. The college is not only affordable to me but also near to my home, and that's one of the most important reasons why I opted for this institution.

The faculty members of our institute are well qualified in their respective fields with qualifications like PhD. All the faculty members of our B.Sc course are truly meant to be told as professors, as they do not have a great qualification but also have to motive and aim to teach a huge a number of students and spread the knowledge that they have gained throughout their career. And as far as it's about their background, they come from a good family as well as educational background with excellent scores in each course their pursued. Again, their teaching method is the best as per my opinion as they not only use English to teach but also use local language to let students understand the concepts better. Unlike other local institutions, this institution is very strict about the exams and practical, neither had they let you cheat nor anything else. Our faculty encourages students to participate in each and every competition that comes to the college or in the college. They always have a positive attitude towards students and education and so, they never chase completing the syllabus but enjoy teaching it!!

They have started placing student’s form this year as they got A grade from NAAC this year only.

There is no hostel facility available in the college for girls or boys.

Apart from the faculty, our college's infrastructure is also improved, and we'll equip, the labs are much cleaner than other institute's labs. The campus is beautiful with a fountain in the middle and some beautiful trees all around the campus. Apart from that we have a big library, few computer labs and clean classrooms.

Poona college of Science, Commerce and Arts has a little campus with huge number of students in each course with number of faculty members for each course. Campus life here is quite fine as we spend most of our day in the classes and practicals only. For it is in the heart of Pune, plenty of restaurants, hotels are easily accessible to the students whenever they wish to go. The college is very crowded at times of examination and practicals, otherwise it seems to be normal. As far as, it's about clubs and fests, there's nothing like that you will find here, students are engaged in studies and competition only as there's no organisation of fests, cultural days or anything like that here.
