KC Law College LLB Review By Akash Mundhe

KC Law College is one of the oldest law colleges in Mumbai. One can study law if he/she has passed H.S.C. from any stream with 45% marks. The merit list screening is done and then the admissions are provided. The LLB at KC Law College is a 3 year degree course affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The Law college building is in the same campus where the other faculty buildings are. The college is located at a walking distance from Church Gate station. The only problem is that law college classes are held in the morning and one may be aware of the traffic in Mumbai locals during the morning. Those 3 years I had the toughest time travelling but once I reached the college I regained the energy as the college was productively the best.

The LLB course is divided in 6 semesters and in between moots sessions are also conducted. The college hours were from 7am to 1pm and there was just a 15 minutes break in between. It became quite hectic on days but as I said the college was lively and so was the town. The professors who taught us were the best and so were the vibes around the college as there are many colleges in the same locality. The competition in Law is always fierce as the number of lawyers serving than the record number of cases is high. We were taught to be competent enough and this is why what I was taught in college, I remember it all. The college has done great in making sure that their law college always produces the best students.

Law course is easy but the faculties made our lives hell. Yes they did and I don’t know why. Even during vacations we are sent to courts to attend the moots and are given case studies to work on. The faculty was kind of harsh on us but they did to make sure that KC Law College students can survive the incumbency that exists in law world. The faculty should be credited for the way they taught us to be presentable and be confident. All the students of KC College has one thing in common and that is confidence. All this was possible because of the incredible faculty of the college.

The college does have a placement cell but most of us were hired by law firms where we were offered internship programs. The best part was that the placement cell provided internship programs based on students choice whether they want to litigation or corporate firms to be associated with. The college has paid heeds to student’s choices and that is what makes this college one of the best law colleges in Mumbai.

The college doesn't have its own hostel but there are various men’s and ladies hostel in Churchgate. One of the best boys hostel nearby is Patidar Hostel that is located in Marine lines. If u wish to not go far then YWCA, Lady Willingdon Hostel for girls can solve your stay purpose. Besides that you can also find various apartments in Colaba and Marine Lines. Having said that the rent is too much and therefore staying in one of the above mentioned hostel can be considered a choice. If you don’t mind travel then Andheri is one place where you can find numerous PGs and hostels at a reasonable price as many outsiders I know used to stay there.

The college was built way back in 1955 and the building is still the same it was back then. The KC Law college building though is relatively new as it was built in 1997. The building may look old from outside but have renovated it with modern interior and has all the facilities that are required. The college building also has a huge library at the ground floor that is full of books for all the courses of the University of Mumbai. Besides course books there are also autobiographies and various law journals also available in the library. The college also has a pure veg canteen that is shared by both KC and H.R. College. There is also a moot court for the college law students and the main building is fully Wi-Fi.

For the law students the years are hectic as various programs are organized for students all year round. Students are encouraged to take part in law festivals and that gave us a great idea of law studies. The best part is that age is not a barrier for law studies and many students were mid-aged as they decided to study law at later stage of their life. Thus law college has students of various age groups and sharing classes and after college hours with them was great fun. The campus size many argue as small but is good enough to spend some leisure time post college hours. As this is how I spent my time at the college.
