Presidency University B.Tech Review By Dhanshyam Dubria

The college started recently we were among the first batch students who joined this college. The college was up and ready but started accepting students only from 2013. Presidency University Bangalore without a doubt has one of the best infra that you can ever find. The teachers are quality and we were told that the University was not started until the best in the country were hired to teach students. This was an exaggerated statement from the management as no one can digest this thought. Like other institutes this University too has am entrance of its own and also accepts Comed-K score as well. The kind of fees that the college charges can be justified for the facilities that it provides but the false claims that the college make about placement is all fake.

The classrooms are wide and have 2 projectors and 2 black boards in the classrooms. At first, I was surprised is this for real? Having said that this is just one aspect as the college has a lot of surprises in store for us which we learned in the course of 4 years. The college duration was manageable as the classes started at 8am in the morning and we were done by 2 pm. The teaching methods were new as the University was new and did all that they can to attract students not just from Bangalore but from other cities and states as well. Students have now started approaching this University and are enrolling. Little do they know that it’s not that worth as it claims.

After such hype that the management created about the faculty they had to deliver, and the University did that. On faculty front the college passes with flying colors as the teachers were quality and well experienced. Not just the engineering stream but the faculty members of all the streams were one of the best. I interacted with many students of the University studying in different branches and all in one word has supported the way the faculty members have taken care of the students. I would say it was mostly because we were among the first batch because on some parameters there’s a lot of improvement that is required.

I was in EC department and were told during the final year that all the students will get placed but the reality is only 30-40% who mere meritorious students only grabbed the placements. I along with many friends didn’t get the on-campus placement and took a while before we finally could find a job for ourselves. A lot of big names like Mphasis, Reliance Jio, Mudabla, and Mindtree did come but took a few of us. After the semester got over, I saw an ad in the newspaper where the University claimed that they gave 100% placements which was not at all true. Likewise, University has failed on few parameters and its time that they should correct that because this way they can’t survive long for sure.

Since the University is new a lot of construction is still going on and the University is planning to build a few more hostels to accommodate 1000 students. During our time the strength of the Presidency University hostel was 450 including both boys and girls hostel. The facilities are top notch though I was a day scholar and hardly went to see the hostel. I had few friends who were studying there but never stayed there for long. The hostel had a mess that served all three meals. The hostel was common for various students of different courses and was allotted on first-cum first serve basis.

Unquestionably the best that you will find. Looked like a resort from far and yes it can be termed as a resort. The modern classes and the huge library that served students of nearly 20 courses that the University offers. The classrooms were all air-conditioned and so were the auditoriums and seminar halls. Sports were given a lot of importance in the University and therefore the huge campus of the college is a home to 2 huge playgrounds. In addition to playgrounds there are also indoor sporting facilities as well. There’s a canteen that serves both South and North Indian dishes. The college also has a huge CCD outlet and is always full due to the strength that the University has. The list is endless and in one word there’s nothing that this college campus doesn’t have.

The college professors, management all were vocal and always believed in quality. They always motivated us to chase for excellence and make sure that being an engineer we all contribute to the best of our abilities. The life at the campus was great as we never realised that we are into one of the toughest courses and the false hopes that we were given made our life really exciting. The University promised us that they will provide internship which they failed and likewise on placement front as well. That really made me forget all the good things that the University provided. I started my college days on high and left saddened.
