SOIL Institute of Management Reviews on Placement, Faculty, Hostel by Students

'SOIL' is not an Institute where you can relax on your bean bag and chew your fingers and ask anyone to do it for us. We had to finish so much, of course, in such a short time that at SOIL, I had to isolate myself for a year because I knew one year of hard work and life would be sorted post that. Firstly, coming from an engineering background and understanding the economics and dynamics of business studies was so tough. I saw many engineering students struggle and management cut down our Sundays, too, because the whole day, we were taught the things which we haven't studied in the past. So, if you are a commerce counterpart SOIL is an absolute gem, but for engineers the workload automatically becomes double. I have loved the way SOIL has done wonders, but all this comes at the cost of complete isolation. In the construct of my career, SOIL has played a major role. There were many alternative B-Schools I was looking for but without great numbers at the entrance and major other requirements, I wouldn't have got the admissions at the likes of SIBM, MDI, or others, and was a little sceptical before I indeed joined SOIL. Now when I look back now, I feel like tapping my back, because I joined SOIL. Many other students from my batch do have the same feeling because SOIL is different but effective in placements and providing modern learning. If there's ever a B-School that can keep the show going then it has to be SOIL. I had friends in almost all top B-Schools, but when we used to discuss the pattern followed among our Colleges, they were like we are way ahead. The things that they did or studied in third semester; we did that in the first. Only concern that I could have was that it became too hectic for an individual. SOIL Gurgaon is an example of modern B-School as not the infrastructure but even the academic system and other things also look like the things of the future. Academics here were sorted, faculties were good, but what next? It's the placement's part where I was a little disappointed because the academics revolve around industrial training and still have a placement percentage of 70-odd is low. When I compare B-Schools, I see the likes of FMS, MDI, XLRI, and others and one thing that they have in common is 100% placements. SOIL charges more than them and also promises the best of placements. However, placements go to them who pass many challenges that are being thrown to them every single day at SOIL. The Institute has taken a step up in enhancing its education and for that, I will be its biggest cheerleader. The campus life never stagnated here because we would see faces and move on as everyone had their tasks cut out for the day even before they reached the College. So, overall, led quite a challenging life at SOIL as there was a lot more to do in the nick of time.Read Full Review
