Asian College of Journalism Chennai Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

The infrastructure is a canon of how a media school should look like. Asian College of Journalism campus was no less than any media house office as we had a couple of studios, one print lab, one shooting area, and almost everything that a studio has. The best was the debate house as we were given topics of debate and many guests were invited and live debates used to take place there. The college had multiple canteens and playing area, so we had opportunity to unwind because that was the most important thing that we wanted to have apart from anything else.

Since I was into investigative journalism, I had to spend more hours off-campus than on-campus. Playing Volleyball at the campus was the best part and used to just for debate sessions because that was my forte coming from Delhi. Well, jokes apart, ACJ gave me a life that I always wished to live and therefore many students had different ideas about the college but I have come to my own at ACJ and therefore my views are quite strong that our country needs more colleges like ACJ.Read Full Review

For infrastructure, one can applaud as much as they want for the infrastructure but it still won’t be enough as from building to the classrooms, it was more like a newsroom or news channel building. We had satellite towers and could directly interact with partner media houses of the college. The newsroom and the print labs were the areas where I spent the most time as we didn’t just had to cash news before it comes but sell it before anyone else. The auditorium was huge and arguably the best part of the infrastructure as many privileged guests have entered the auditorium and walked through their lives at the college’s MS auditorium.

Since, the college has many NRI students, it was nice to be around them and see how they look at India. The college events were also related to news as we had to be on the field for a large chunk of our time and then come back at integrated news room to prepare for the same. So campus life at ACJ just kept juggling because we hardly had a permanent class or the spot where we could find time and relax.Read Full Review

One of the things that impressed the heck out of me was the fact that ACJ comes with an integrated newsroom. Apart from this, it came with several labs, furnished newsroom studios for in-house productions, camcorders, etc. It certainly has everything that a college of journalism must have and more. The campus has residential blocks for students and teachers. The solar panels are installed at all buildings and all the electricity consumed by the college is generated by them. In years to follow the college will produce extra electricity as well as that is the ultimate target. There’s one main college campus that has all the hi-tech facilities and most notable of them being a multi-media class hall. The library was well stocked but it lacked a study area. There were 10-12 video editing suites. Last but not least the auditorium was simply outstanding.

The grounds are quite extensive and the college comes with several facilities, including the unique MS auditorium. The 350 seater auditorium, by itself is quite remarkable for its unique design, which offers utter clarity of sound. The college also offers several events and organizes them regularly. I found the several field trips, interactive sessions to be worth it. It certainly helped me gain a foothold in journalism, today. On the whole, the campus was well designed, with wide, open grounds in a modern setting. The seniors were as helpful as anyone and the college fest which was the biggest charm was celebrated by students on a whole and everyone appreciated each other’s efforts.Read Full Review
