Osmania University campus has world-class infrastructure and it is equipped with numerous educational & recreational facilities ensuring the holistic development of students. Moreover, the premise is surrounded by lush greenery offering an eco-friendly environment to the students.
More than 1300 acres is the campus area of Osmania University and various facilities such as smart classrooms, modern laboratories, auditoriums, sports, accommodations, free bus service inside the premises, etc. are provided to the students within it.
The University ensures that students studying at the campus get access to requisite academic and other facilities, so that they can get a productive learning environment. OU Hyderabad has around 250 classrooms out of which 105 are smart classrooms. These classrooms can accommodate around 30 to 250 students and are equipped with requisite facilities.
In addition, there are more than 10 auditoriums inside the premises which include ‘Tagore Auditorium’, ‘Mekaster Auditorium’ , ‘NERTU Auditorium’ (55+ students), and others. Moreover, the accommodation capacity of these auditoriums ranges from around 100 to 1000 students.
Each College / Department of the University has separate air-conditioned seminar halls and they are used to conduct seminars, guest lectures, and other academic events. The seating capacity of the seminar hall is around 30 students.
Apart from this, numerous other facilities are provided to the students of OU Hyderabad in their campus; details of same are stated below:
- Library: There is a main library namely ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Library’ built on approximately 62,000 square feet of land area. The library contains more than 5,00,000 books, 6000+ manuscripts, around 58,0000 journals, and various other learning resources. In addition, there are separate sections for technical, reference, lending, and other services.
In addition to this, students can access the online databases and academic resources through the digital library present within the library. Moreover, services like reprographic, digital documents, etc. are provided to the students inside the library. Furthermore, separate departmental libraries are built within the premises, so that students can do advanced educational and research work.
- Laboratories: The University has set up around 50 computer labs to provide requisite technical skills to the students in their chosen stream. Moreover, some of the departments like Geochemistry, Geography, Chemistry, etc. are equipped with technologically advanced labs, so that students can apply theoretical knowledge into practical learning.
Some of the available labs are Remote Sensing & GIS Lab, Soil Lab, Instrumentation Lab, and Microbiology Lab.
- Sports: The Institution provides adequate sports facilities within the premises to ensure that students are involved in games and physical activities. Some of the facilities available for indoor games are Chess, Carrom, indoor-stadium Badminton, and Table-Tennis. In addition, various amenities for outdoor games are provided by the Institution like Volleyball Courts, Kabaddi Courts, Basketball Courts, Hockey Field, Cricket Grounds, Football Field, etc.
- Hostel: The University has built around 22 hostels (5 for girls) namely, ‘Krishnaveni’, ‘Maneru’, and many others to provide residential facilities to the male and female students. In addition, around 15 messes are present at the Osmania University Hostels which serve 3 meals in a day and students get access to several other facilities.
- Cafeteria: Multiple cafeterias are present across the Osmania University campus to cater the diverse food and beverages requirements of the students.
- Healthcare Facility: There is a ‘Health Centre’ inside the Osmania University campus with a team of experienced doctors to provide free medical treatment to the students and other staff members. Moreover, an ambulance with oxygen cylinder and other facilities are available at the premises.
Free health camps are also organised by the Institution. In addition, each College of this University has a separate health centre.
- Gymnasium: Inside the Osmania University Hyderabad campus, there is a gymnasium to ensure that students remain physically fit and healthy.
- Banking: A branch of ‘State Bank of India’ and a post office is there at the campus to provide banking services to the students.
The motive of the Heritage & Tourism Club and multiple other available clubs is to encourage the participation of the students in numerous co-curricular activities through which they can build self-esteem & elevate their skills.
In addition to this, through the committees established at the University’s campus such as Internal Complaint Committee, Anti-Ragging Committee, etc. students can put forward their concerns which will positively influence their overall academic experience.
