SIMS Pune Reviews on Placement, Faculty, Hostel by Students

After a mediocre performance at the UG College, I was worried about the future but then came to knew about SIMS. The college has an MOU with Defence Ministry and 90% seats are reserved for defence personnel kids. 10% quota is for open candidates and that made the college a great place to be in. I always studied in hostels as I hardly stayed with my parents so having students other than army personnel helped my cause. I immediately strike cord with some non-army background students and made them friends for life. After staying in hostel for 7-8 years, I was again left with no choice as MBA in SIMS is a compulsory residential course and if you want to join this college, you also have to be part of their hostel as well. Apart from studies there are various activities and proper cells are made that are student driven. The management or the faculty had no business and they never interfered. We were given opportunity to showcase what all we have practiced in our respective cells. I was a part of drama club and in our batch a combined fest of all the Symbi institutes was held. It was held at SIBM campus and we lost most of the competition but drama club was first and the one who judged our performance was none other than Bollywood heartthrob Arjun Rampal.Read Full Review

PG was always on my mind and therefore I appeared for all the entrances that exist. SNAP was the one in which I scored decent and since SIMS is dedicated for Army Personnel children, I got admission there From Delhi to Pune it wasn’t an easy thing as I have been to many places since my father was in army but was always posted in North. Also, many competitions were held between different colleges of Symbiosis and we were often accused of non-deserving. All the students who were not from Army background got the admission after scoring percentile in mid 90s while we got it even at the score of 60. Well that’s the perk of being an army kid. Talking about the institute if you compare it with other institutes of Symbiosis it is sub-par with them. The facilities are more or less the same but in terms of opportunities and other things the college is below par. Well enough of the attention on just 5-10% negatives that it had as rest all was quite positive. The placements were in line and the residential facility provided was top-class.Read Full Review

Symbiosis is like an Akshay Kumar film that creates hype and also lives up to that expectation as well. Students from all over the country want to be a part of Symbiosis but it’s not that simple. I took a year’s break after my graduation to prepare for the entrances. CAT I appeared just for the sake of it by my target was always Symbiosis. SIBM was my first choice and SCMHRD the next but the required percentile I couldn’t meet and had to satisfy myself with SIMS. I didn’t know at the beginning that college has a reservation quota or rather the college is dedicated for Defense personnel kids. It was only after I entered the campus I saw that board at the college that it is dedicated to Defense Personnel and their Dependents is the only Symbiosis Institute that is built in tandem with Ministry of Defense. In short SIMS has a range of facilities that are truly good and as a student at SIMS; you can get your routines done interruption free.Read Full Review
