
MIT World Peace University (also known as Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University) [MIT-WPU], Pune Maharashtra was established in the year 1983 as Private University Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Engineering, Management and Humanities. MIT-WPU is approved by the reputed AICTE, UGC and MCI, and is accredited by NBA. Management of MIT-WPU Pune is working under Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad (Founder President).
Erstwhile known as Maharashtra Institute of Technology was turned into a glorious university today known as MIT World Peace University in the year 2017. The university comes under the tutelage of MIT Group of Institutions. The university is located in the fastest developing areas of Asia, Kothrud, Pune. The university has evolved from an engineering college which was established in 1983 to many faculties such as commerce, liberal arts, science, management, pharmacy, law, photography, and mass media among many others. There are as many as 18 schools of the country offering many UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Integrate/ and Doctorate courses.
The university’s official name is Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University has a campus of over 100 acres. Kothrud is one of the busiest areas of Pune and one can find all means of transportation close to the university. The university is 9 kms from the railway station and 7 kms from the Shivaji Nagar Railway Station. The university is not far from airport either as in less than an hour students can reach to the university from the airport. The distance between Pune International airport and the MIT Pune is around 17 kms. The university boasts a lot of events all around the year and university’s tech fest Texephyr is one of the best in Pune.
MIT WPU has entrance for some of its programs and the admissions depend on entrance score. For Engineering school, MEET (MIT WPU Engineering Entrance Test) is required and likewise for management schools too there are entrances. For Pharmacy School of the University too, the university has its own entrance and NEET scores are accepted too. MIT World Peace University are merit based as there’s no such thing called management quota and students have to appear for the qualifying entrance exams. For the MIT World Peace University courses other than Pharmacy, Engineering, and Management there are no entrances but 12th percentage matters. Students have to be in A category of percentile because University’s cut-offs are generally high.
MIT WPU application form for all UG/PG programs can be availed through their website or can be scored from the campus directly. Admissions are granted only after verifying the documents. The documentation process is simple as students with proper scorecards and documents admissions process hardly takes time. MIT WPU invites applications from all across the country and cross borders too.
MIT World Peace University scholarships are divided in three categories and they are A, B, and C. In A category, students with a percentile of 97 & above in JEE Mains are provided 100% scholarships. Likewise, the students with 98 percentile & above are eligible for 100% scholarships. The B & C category students should fall in the radar of 94 & above and 90 & above in JEE Mains respectively. For B & C category students, the minimum MHT-CET percentile has to 95 & above and 92 & above respectively. The university has reserved a scholarship of 5% every year out of the total number of students that enrol at the university.
Apart from meritorious scholarships, scholarships on the basis of religion, caste, and other factors such as sports quota and army quota are also reserved by the university.

MIT World Peace University placements mettle is handled by MITWPU CIAP. The CIAP team has successfully places hundreds and thousands of students to world’s best brands such as Michelin India, Hitachi, Infosys, IBM, HCL, and Barclays among many others. The engineering school of the university enjoys over 80% placements every year and even the management PG school has a placement percentage close to that. The University earned a niche for itself after placing two of its students to one of the largest Japanese IT companies, Rakuten with a CTC of Rs. 37.2 LPA. Thus far, this has been the highest placements offered to the students of MIT World Peace University Pune. Girls Hostel – MIT WPU understands the fact that parents don’t send their daughters to other places for study if there’s no hostel. Keeping that in mind the university has built a world class girls hostel in the campus that has a capacity of accommodating 175 girls. Various facilities such as common phone, TV room, night canteen, and recreational room have been built at the girl’s hostel.
Boys Hostel – One five floor world class boys hostel have been built at the campus that can accommodate nearly 400 students. To make the students staying at the hostel comfortable facilities like hot/cold water, recreational room, canteen etc., have been provided.
Library – The MIT Library which is in existence since 1983 is one of the grandest libraries. The library is loaded with journals, research papers, books, etc. for students. Apart from the central library, the university has two auxiliary libraries for management & engineering departments.
Cafeteria – The University has a canteen and cafeteria and both of them are tidy. Not just the canteen and café are hygienic but also provides nutritious food. A whole range of food from south Indian dishes to North Indian dishes and some international cuisines too are available at the university canteen.
Hospital – MIT WPU has a world class medical centre at the campus. Regular camps for medical check-ups are done at the campus and the medical centre dispensary has doctors available 24x7.
Bank – SBI, and Sangli Bank LTD, have their branches inside the campus and students are given a 0 opening balance account facility. SBI also has an ATM at the campus and because there are many students from abroad, an outlet of Western Union Money Transfer is also available at the university.
