If SCMC faculties were skilled then at SIMC they have just doubled it up because many renowned media people were the ones who took classes. Not all of them makes a part of the core faculty but some of them used to stay at the campus for weeks and take the classes. So, it was like only the industry experts were allowed to take the classes because more than degrees, the college gave more importance to the experience and knowledge that they carried about the industry. I was so jealous of the faculty as the editors of Pune Times from Times of India; Sakal Media Group assistant directors were the ones who became permanent faculty over here. Well as the old adage says that absolute power corrupts absolutely and that is why faculties were just a few and every week, many prominent personalities were called to take lectures. It indeed put us in a catch 22 situation because some of my idols like Rajat Sharma, and Vikrant Gupta have come and taken lectures here. Vikrant Gupta is my hero as my elective was sports and he is sports anchor. When I learned that he himself was a cricketer I got disappointed as I thought only, they are the ones who qualify for such jobs. Well, I got the opportunity to have one on one interaction with him and he assured me that if I have it in me, it doesn’t matter where I belong to, I can still make my mark in the field. Faculties delivery was outstanding because they were none other than decorated media people. The permanent faculty also consisted of them, and the guest faculties took over most of the time. The guest faculties took the lectures were the top people from the industry. The interaction with faculty always gave new ideas and helped eliminate all the inertia that was building in the body. So, the initial butterflies that one will have after the faculties will be all gone once you become regular at the college.
