I was always wanted to be a Civil Engg. So I took admission in B.Tech. To get a seat in engineering in JIST, you have to attend CEE exam. If you clear the cutoff of that year, you get invited on the Counseling process. On the venue itself, you have to fill up forms and select your desired college among Assam Government Run Colleges. If you get selected for JIST, then you have to attend next round on the College on a prescribed that. There they check all your documents and give you admission. Unlike this, for getting into B.Sc or M.Sc courses, you have to visit the college or portal. Then you fill-up required forms and give an exam. If you get selected, you are admitted to the College. All the Courses they provide are B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, PEI, ETC, BSc in IT and M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths. For engineering, you have to pass 10+2 with a minimum of 50% on PCM and have to clear 5 subjects including PCM and English. Sometimes the requirement may change and it will notify by ASTU and DTE websites. To do B.Sc or M.Sc you must score more than 55% in previous exams. Mere applying and clearing cutoff don’t ensure your admission until you present on the admission date and do all the formalities. As I mentioned, my Branch is B.Tech (Civil Engineering).

The faculty of my branch is Good, if not the Best. But their willingness to teach is appreciable. As a technical institution, Our Branch lakes a Good Infrastructure, but all the machinery and equipment are available. So, you get no major issues in the study. Interestingly it also provides you training for GATE exam in the final year. You also get Job opportunities via campus placement.
