The number of faculties of teaching staff changes every year. This is because every department hires new part-time professors every year. There are three permanent teaching faculties in the department of psychology. During the three years in which I had attended college, each year about two to three guest lectures were appointed. Every year a few guest lecturers are hired in every department. There are 52 professors across 16 departments and 2 librarians. Every professor is highly qualified and has had years of teaching experience. Most of these lecturers have an M.Phil degree in their respective subjects, as well as a Ph.D. Some professors have diploma degrees as well. Every professor has more than adequate knowledge of their subject and can adapt to new teaching methods as and when required.

Lecturers at Gokhale Memorial Girls' College use different techniques in class. Some professors use the lecture method, some ask students to take down dictations and others use audio-visual methods to teach students. They are patient and are always ready to help their students. Though some professors prefer a certain degree of strictness, they never compromise on the quality of teaching. With the mandate from the government, it is now compulsory for almost every professor to complete their PhDs before being selected for any position in a state run university and college. During my time, all my professors were PhD qualified. In fact the guest lecturers were hired on the fact that either they are pursuing or have completed their research on any designated subjects. The teaching method was based on lectures and written notes. Professors would initially explain the concept and then provide us with notes. As far as I remember almost every department had a ration of 25:6 excluding the guest faculties. Every professor was aware of their students personally and knew their drawbacks.Read Full Review
