IIT JAM Registration 2027 (Ongoing): How to Fill Application Form, Fees, Last Date, Documents

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will open the IIT JAM 2027 registration window from 5^th September 2026 onwards. Eligible candidates can register online for the exam only through JOAPS - JAM Online Application Processing System by visiting ‘jam.iitkgp.ac.in’  till 12^th October 2026.

Female students & the ST / SC / PwD students have to pay Rs. 1000/- for 1 Test Paper & Rs. 1350/- for 2 papers during the registration. The exam fee for other candidates is Rs. 2000/- (for 1 paper) & Rs. 2700/- (for 2 test papers).

Candidates who want to rectify their mistakes in fields such as Gender / Exam Centre / Category / Selected Test Paper / Date of Birth can do the same till 10^th November 2026 by paying the requisite fee.

Through IIT JAM, candidates can enrol in various advanced degrees including Master of Science of IITs and other participating institutes. To get an overview about the IIT JAM exam registration, look at the table mentioned-below:

Aspirants can pay the requisite application fee for the entrance test via online mode only. No processing charges will be included in the fees; however, Bank / gateway charges may be applicable that have to be paid by the candidates. The available payment methods are listed below:

The IIT JAM 2027 registration fees is specified in the table stated-below:

Note: Candidates registering for the exam can either take One or Two Test Papers. Although, they will be able to appear in the Two Test Papers only when the exam for their chosen subjects are not scheduled in the same session.

Some of the other information that the students must know regarding the payment of registration fee for the IIT JAM 2027 are as follows:

• Candidates who desire to change their Exam Centres / Test Papers / Gender / Category have to additionally pay Rs. 300/-.
• The application fee for the entrance test will not be refunded / transferred under any circumstances.
• If the exam fee is deducted from the applicants’ account but is not reflected on the official website then in such a case, the amount shall be automatically credited back to the source account. This process may take 7 days or more after the application process ends.
• The conducting body does not charge any service / processing fee during the online fee payment process. However, applicants may have to pay other charges as applicable by the requisite payment gateway / bank merchant used by them.

Candidates who are interested to register for the IIT JAM exam can follow the steps listed-below:

Step 1: Register

• Visit the IIT JAM’s official website, ‘jam.iitkgp.ac.in’..
• Click on the link, “joaps.iitd.ac.in/register”; available on the homepage to register on JAM Online Application Processing System – JOAPS.
• Fill the details mentioned-below:
  • Candidates’ Name
  • Email ID
  • Mobile Number
• After providing all the details, set a strong Password.
• Once the registration is successful, candidates will receive an Enrolment ID on their registered email address & mobile number.

* For the further process, applicants must keep the Enrolment ID and Password safe and secure.

Step 2: Application Form

• After completing the registration process, Log In with the Enrolment ID and password on the JOAPS portal.
• Once candidates are logged in, an application form will be displayed on the screen.
• Fill in all the details asked in the form which are as follows:
  • Personal Details: Candidate’s Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, Date of Birth, Parent’s Name and Phone Number.
  • Address Details
  • Choice of Test Papers
  • Examination Cities (Maximum 3)
  • Educational Details
• Scan and Upload the documents / images.
• Click on “Save” and “View” to recheck the filled application form.

Step 3: Payment

• After reviewing the form, Press the “Proceed to Payment” icon to open the fee payment window.

*Once the students click on the “Proceed to Payment” tab, they cannot make any changes in the form.

• Pay the application fee and bank charges amount reflected on the screen. Afterwards, students will be transmitted to the JOAPS website.

Note: Candidates will get the option to choose a Second Test Paper only if they have opted for One Test Paper. Interested candidates are requested to move further by paying the additional fee amount for the 2^nd paper.

* Furthermore, once the IIT JAM exam form 2027 is submitted, applicants will not be able to cancel their respective application forms.

To fill the Application Form details, candidates are required to have following documents:

• Passport Size Photograph
• Aadhar Card / Driving License / PAN Card / Passport / Voter ID.
• Class 10^th / SSC and 12^th Marksheet
• Bachelor's Degree Marksheet
• Caste Certificate (If Applicable)

There are some instructions which should be followed by the applicants to scan and upload the documents. The details are as follows:

Passport Size Photograph

Following are the requirements for photograph:

• It should be a coloured photograph, clicked against the white / light colour background.
• Size: 3.5 cm Width × 4.5 cm Height.
• Format: JPEG / JPG.
• File Size of the image: 50 KB to 200 KB.
• Pixel Size: 480 x 640 pixel or 0.3 mega pixel (Maximum) and 240 x 320 (Minimum).
• The Photograph is required to be recently clicked and 50% of the photograph’s area should be clearly visible with a full-face view looking straight into the camera.
• Main features of the applicant’s face such as forehead, eyes, nose, and chin must be clearly visible & should not be covered by hair of the head / shadow, cloth / face mask.
• Photographs with dark or tinted glasses are not acceptable; clear glasses are allowed. However, if glare appears on the photograph, students are suggested to capture the photograph without spectacles.

*Self-composed portraits / photographs of poor resolution captured using a mobile phone can result in rejection of the application & refund of the exam fee will not be provided.

Signature

The specifications required to upload signature are as follows:

• Size of the Signature: 2 cm Height × 7 cm in Width.
• Format: JPEG / JPG.
• Pixel Size: 80 × 280 pixel (Minimum) and 160 × 560 pixel (Maximum).
• Image File Size: 50 KB to 150 KB.
• Candidates’ signature image should either be in Black or Blue Ink Pen.

*Application form of candidates who have signed in capital letters / initials / used inks other than blur or black will be rejected.

OBC-NCL / EWS / SC / ST / PwD Certificate (If Applicable)

The scanned copy of all the required documents must be uploaded in the following manner:

• Format: PDF
• Size of the File: 10KB to 300KB
• For OBC-NCL & EWS candidates, the certificate must have been issued by authorised officials on / after 1^st April 2025 in the prescribed format.

The IIT Kharagpur – the conducting body will open a correction window and candidates are allowed to make changes. The last date for uploading the rectified OBC-NCL / EWS Certificate and for editing the different sections of the form are different. To edit the following details in the filled-in application form through the correction window, candidates will be required to pay an additional amount of Rs. 300/-:

• Test Papers
• Category
• Gender
• Date of Birth

Applicants can also modify their previously selected test papers or add an additional paper by paying the requisite extra charges, as required.

* Candidates should familiarise themselves with the IIT JAM Exam Pattern 2027 to begin the preparation for the exam.

Aspiring candidates who look forward to attempting the IIT JAM 2027 entrance test must make sure that they fulfil the eligibility requirements and then proceed with the registration to avoid rejection. As per the IIT JAM Eligibility Criteria 2027, students must have completed Bachelor’s Degree / currently appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination.

Both Indian residents & foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the entrance test. Moreover, there is no restriction in the minimum & maximum age criteria for attempting the exam.
