The West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test (WB JELET) is conducted for the candidates who want to enroll in the 2^nd year (3^rd semester) of B.E / B.Tech / B.Pharm programs at Universities / Government Colleges / Self-Financed Engineering & Technology Institutes in West Bengal.

Academic Qualifications

For B.E / B.Tech (Lateral Entry) programs, candidates should have qualified 2 / 3 year Diploma / B.Sc / B.Voc / 3 year D.Voc in specified branch / sector as per the JELET eligibility criteria 2026. Additionally, students who are willing to take the test for admission in the 2nd year of the B.Pharm course should have completed a Diploma in Pharmacy.

Qualifying Marks

Candidates should have passed their last qualifying examination with at least 45% (40% for SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PwD categories) marks except for B.Voc and D.Voc in order to satisfy the JELET eligibility criteria 2026.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for the students who have qualified Diploma in specified streams except Marine Engineering. In addition, the maximum age restriction for the candidates who have completed B.Sc / Diploma in Marine Engineering is 27 and 25 years, respectively as on 31^st December of admission year.

There are some special points that students should know and some of these are stated below:

• Students should have qualified a Diploma exam with at least 60% marks / equivalent CGPA if they want to secure admission at Jadavpur University.
• The related norms of D.G Shipping will be applicable for the candidates who are seeking admission in Marine Engineering programs.
• Applicants who will be taking the entrance test post qualifying D.Voc will not be granted admission at Jadavpur University.
• B.Sc & Diploma qualified students will be eligible for admission in the 1^st year of Degree programs if seats are vacant in the same and Lateral Entry vacancies are occupied.
• Candidates who have qualified B.Voc / B.Sc will be considered for admission only if the seats are available after granting admission to those who have completed Diploma.

The conducting body has reserved some seats for the Indian candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC-A / EWS / OBC-B categories who are domiciled in West Bengal. Along with this, as per the Section 2(r) of the RPWD Act, 2016, few seats are reserved for PwD category applicants as well with 40% or above disability including visual impairment, locomotor disability, etc.
