The Phase 1 for MITID DAT for B.Des / B.Des Fashion is conducted Online including computer-based MCQ (objective), subjective, and combination of online & offline - drawing test. The details about all the 3 tests included in the Design Aptitude Test are as follows:

• Objective Exam – Computer Based Test

In this test, students will get questions on the computer screen on a random basis and they have to answer on the same by selecting one of the responses available for a question.

• Subjective / Descriptive Exam – Computer Based Test

The subjective or descriptive type questions will appear on the screen in different sections. In addition to this, candidates will be given a text box on the screen so that they can write their answers for a question.

The subjective questions will be based on the following aspects:

For M.Des

Students seeking admission in any of the specialisations of the 2 years Master of Design (M.Des) program via the MITID DAT exam should know that they are required to submit Portfolio and Statement of Purpose (SOP).

In addition to this, on the basis of the MITID DAT exam pattern 2026 – Phase 1, the documents should be in following criteria:

• Portfolio: It should be in PDF format and the file size needs to be less than 10 MB. Moreover, it must include compilation of students’ creative work / projects, reflecting their skills, design thinking, and creativity.
• Statement of Purpose (SOP): A written document of around 800 to 1000 words should be submitted in the file size of less than 2 MB and need to be in a separate PDF / Word document.
