The PUBDET 2026 will be held for admission in 16 specialisations of the B.A and B.Sc (Major / Hons.) courses. While filling the application form, candidates will be permitted to apply for a maximum of 3 papers. However, they cannot opt for papers that are going to be held on the same day and time.

On the exam day, only those students will be permitted to take the PUBDET 2026 who have successfully filled and submitted the application form for the same through online mode. To complete the PUBDET Registration 2026, students can visit ‘wbjeeb.nic.in/pubdet’ and pay Rs. 500/- to confirm their candidature for the test. Also, if aspirants wish to appear for more than one paper then Rs. 250/- has to be paid for each of the additional papers.
When the registration portal closes, WBJEEB will activate the correction window. During this phase, applicants will be able to rectify certain fields of the submitted form except for the primary data like Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Domicile, and Date of Birth.
In accordance with WBJEEB, the curriculum for the PUBDET 2026 is different for every paper and is based on that of the 11th and 12th Class of the recognised Boards / Councils. Aspirants who wish to secure top ranks in the entrance test should be well-versed with the content mentioned in the syllabus.

The PUBDET 2026 will be held through offline, OMR-based mode. The test duration will be 1 hour and 30 minutes however; PwBD students will get 20 minutes of compensatory time every hour on a pro-rata basis.
As per the PUBDET Exam Pattern 2026, the question paper will contain a total of 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 2 marks each. For every incorrect response, -0.50 marks shall be deducted and no negative marking will be done for questions left unanswered.
The hall ticket for the PUBDET 2026 will be made available on the official website a few days before the stipulated exam date. Applicants should download the PUBDET Admit Card 2026 and take a printout of the same to present it at the allotted test centre on the exam day.
In addition to this, students should be informed that if the hard copy of the hall ticket is found to be distorted / mutilated / soiled then they may not be permitted to take the entrance test.

* The centre will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of the choices submitted by them. However, if the circumstances are unfavourable or sufficient number of applicants have not opted for a particular test centre, then the conducting body may grant an alternative centre and the decision shall be final. Further, no requests for change in the exam centre will be taken into consideration.

In case there is any discrepancy then they can challenge the answer key by paying Rs. 500/- per question within the stipulated time. The competent Board will review the objections received and publish the final & frozen answer keys after which no further requests or objections will be entertained.
Apart from this, the images of the OMR sheet of the candidates and the machine read responses will be uploaded on the official website possibly 7 days after the exam for a short period. Students can download the same using their login credentials. If the applicants are dissatisfied with the captured responses then they can raise objections against the same and pay Rs. 500/- for every concerned question. WBJEEB will evaluate the challenges and take the final decision.

The conducting body will declare the result of the entrance test in the form of a rank card. The rank card will include the relevant ranks, total score, and component marks in the respective papers. Students can access their PUBDET Result 2026 using their login credentials.
Applicants should know that the conducting authority i.e., WBJEEB will not publish a separate merit list instead, a separate General Merit Rank (GMR) will be mentioned in the respective individuals’ rank card.
Additionally, reserved category-wise merit positions will be indicated in the rank card for the SC, ST, EWS, and PwD students. WBJEEB will decide a cut-off rank / score for the entrance test and based on this, it may not award a rank to the concerned students and hence they will be ineligible for counselling.
In case students have any grievance regarding their marks in PUBDET exam 2026 then they can raise a query through email at ‘[email protected]’ within 24 hours of the result announcement and also attach the requisite supporting documents. Also, if candidates desire to physically represent their objection then they can do so by 12:00 PM of the next working day only.
Note: If applicants need a calculation sheet of their machine read response then they can request the Board along with a Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 500/- in favour of the ‘West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board’ payable at Kolkata. This provision will be available only till 60 days from the result publication date or till the counselling conclusion, whichever is earlier.
If 2 or more students secure equal marks in the PUBDET 2026 then the tie shall be resolved using the following methodology:
After the result of the entrance test is announced, the conducting body will open the registration portal for counselling registration. Students who qualified PUBDET 2026 should fill the form for e-counselling on ‘wbjeeb.nic.in/pubdet’ and pay Rs. 500/- as the registration fee. The PUBDET Counselling Process 2026 (e-Counselling) will be held in 2 rounds.
In the form, candidates have to choose & lock the programs they wish to secure admission in the order of priority given, they have secured a General Merit Rank (GMR) in the same. Those who do not register for counselling / fail to opt for the course choices will be ineligible for counselling.
The second counselling round will be held by the conducting body on the basis of the residual vacancy. Only those students who have already registered for e-Counselling during the 1st round and fall under any one of the below-given categories can appear for round 2:
Afterwards, the PUBDET Seat Allotment 2026 and the entire admission process shall be done by the Presidency University only based on merit of applicants in the entrance test. Reservation seats for the SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD categories will also be available.
Students who are allotted a seat should pay the acceptance fee of Rs. 1000/- and report to the University for document verification & other formalities. Those who fail to report at the University will not be considered for allotment or up-gradation in the subsequent (second) round.
* In case students are found to be ineligible at any stage of admission or after it, their candidature will be automatically treated as cancelled.
After obtaining a rank in the General Merit Rank (GMR) in PUBDET 2026, students will be eligible for appearing in the admission process for the desired B.A or B.Sc (Major / Hons.) course. The PUBDET Participating Colleges 2026 includes only Presidency University, Kolkata.
