CMR Institute of Technology MCA Review By Ajay Shetty

I will complete my post-graduation from CMRIT this year and must say the revamp in facility that CMRIT has made is tremendous. I have known this college for a long and after doing BCA from Jain University, I joined this college for MCA. Talking about my experience, I came across some real bad ones and some real good ones among teachers. This I guess is more or less common in any college for that matter. Placements wise the college has done exceedingly well as they share on notice board that which company has hired how many students and that gave us a decent idea which company to target. The best part of the college according to me is its peer group. In that sense, I was lucky to be a part of this institute. All the students here are intelligent, ambitious, hard-working, and knowledgeable. Many students from this college are among the university rankers. If you somehow get admission in this college don’t think twice before taking admission as this college as many may complain must be short of facilities but has the best minds available.

In CMRIT, academics is something where sky is the limit. Thank God, that I at least attended college for a year. The teaching methods are so innovative and other than the classrooms, the college has built a majestic workshop called Makerspace. The work shop was actually an assignment to MCA students who assisted in the making of this workshop. The workshop has wood cutting machines, 3D printer and different type of tools. This was definitely an initiative that has helped students in their projects. It certainly helped us for sure. Other than this, the lecturers are decent, labs are equipped, and AV halls are great.

Though I haven’t passed out but will dare to say that majority of our professors are friendly, supportive, and also generous while giving the marks for internal but some of them as I already told are real bad ones. The major cons with faculty at CMRIT are that many lecturers keep on chopping and changing every semester. I wish I had an idea what’s wrong from administration department. If they can get horses for courses it’s still understood but I wish the institute take a note of it as you can ask any students from any department and the issue is common with all the departments.

The year I joined that is in 2019-20, the largest recruiter was none other than Infosys. They recruited 81 students which was lesser than the previous year’s figures of 108. A lot of MCA students have been struggling for jobs and the pandemic hasn’t helped our cause either. Most opportunities by IT firms are given to ISE and CSE students. The MCA students are more knowledgeable but the companies don’t want to spend more. Nearly 70-75% students in 2019-2020 batch got placed and this year we have been told that an online recruitment will be conducted from college’s IT lab. The college has promised that there will be 80-90% placements this time around and some of us might hit the jackpot as well.

This is one area where college has done really well. There are as many as 10 hostel buildings and students can choose from single occupancy rooms to four sharing occupancy rooms. The hostels are common for CMRU and CMRIT students. The hostel is inside the campus and implacable conduct is not tolerated. The hostel has a strict curfew time for both boys and girls hostel. Some of the facilities that are there in the hostel include furnished rooms, Wi-Fi connections, TV room, power back up, Indoor games, the mess that provides nutritious food, and RO drinking water. The college has seriously nailed it with the kind of hostel facilities they have provided. I was a day scholar though but have stayed with my friends in the hostel after seeking permissions.

The facilities that are required for students is hostel, library, sports ground and nice classrooms. The institute has them all. The central library of CMRIT is the heart of the college. The library building is huge but the only minus here is that we can issue only 2 books at a time. For student’s accommodation, the hostel facility provided is top class. CMRIT provides sports scholarship and therefore has built sporting facilities in the campus itself. There are 2 huge lush green playgrounds and both are multi-purpose. Other sporting facilities in the campus include basketball courts, Lawn Tennis, Swimming, Gymnastics, and Athletics track fields. The college also has an air-conditioned auditorium and I think not many institute provides these many facilities.

In all, I would say that the college may not be amazingly good but certainly a good place to learn new things in life. I am not and I guess nobody will be disappointed for sure. The college has produced various national level athletes and university rankers at the same time. Thus the college has kept a great balance and that is why the college is one of the most reputed institutes in India.
