CMR Institute of Technology MCA Review By Bijal Shah

CMRIT is among few of those institutes of Bangalore that have achieved NAAC A+ ratings. CMRIT offers maximum courses and have only added to its illustrious list over the years. The best part of the college is its Entrepreneurship & Innovation cell that helps students gets funds if they wish to start a start-up. The college also offers very good placement opportunities and that has what made CMRIT one of the most sought after college in Bangalore. The admission in this college is mostly through a merit list though college has reservations for students applying through management quota. The college provides enough opportunities to students who are interested in sports. The college has hired coaches for different sports and has always encouraged students to play some sports. In all, the college has a support staff that is friendly and is good at encouraging students. I enjoyed my time at the college and every students studying in this college are bound to enjoy life at CMRIT.

The classrooms are top-class I wish the teachers too were. Having said that in MCA there’s not much that students need faculty help. The course is more of a practical and research papers and projects were the things that are provided. The internal marks depend on the faculty and therefore keeping a bond with them helps. Makerspace which is a newly build workshop is accessible for all the students of CMRIT. The students have access to library at any point in time and if any doubts students have can form a group and study in the library. The college has roped in some innovative techniques. The education system is modern and coming from a reputed institute named Reva University my expectations were higher and will have to say that college did well.

The faculty members are highly educated and are teaching for a long time. The percentage of good teachers is higher than the ones that are average. Though shuffling in between the semesters among the faculty members was common. The ratio of faculty members is quite high and there are enough associate faculty members to take care of the students.

The college has a great record in placements. It crosses 200+ for a batch that consisted of 300 students in MCA. It reached the peak during our time even though we were hit by Covid. We got the placements before and it was CMRIT that landed me a job with Nokia. IT firms forms the core of companies that hires students. All three big guns, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro have been among the top recruiters for several courses. The pay package is as per industry standards and though many students have complained of not getting the pay package on expected lines but would rate them decent enough. One needs to have an aggregate of 70+ to get on campus placements. If you don’t achieve that it’s hard to get selected.

There are 10-12 hostel buildings that accommodate nearly 1400 boys and girls. The ratio of boy’s hostel is much higher than that of girl’s hostel. The hostels are common and are given on first come first serve basis. You may be sharing the rooms with students of other courses as it is not confined to students of same courses. The hostel rooms are semi furnished and have all the basic facilities that students need. All the hostels are inside the campus and are highly secured. For outsiders hostel is the best option.

The location of the college is great as it is located on one of the best areas of Bangalore. There are many food joints just outside the college and one can have access to them during college hours as well. The connectivity is great and if not the outside world, the inside half of the campus is great too. The college is full of buildings and is all well-maintained. The college has a library that has now been digitalized. The seating capacity inside the library is also great. Moving away from academics, the college has an international canteen that serves numerous dishes. The food though is just decent, we used to hang out to other food joints to fulfill our cravings. CMRIT has a couple of sports grounds and students are seen playing sports right throughout the day. Not just outdoor but the college also has indoor sporting facility and one huge mention for the swimming pool. The infrastructure of the college is better than many colleges of Bangalore.

The college is not just about studies as every year the college organizes Cultura that is college fest twice. There were fashion shows, many cultural things to showcase and last but not the least it used to end with a DJ. Raghu Dixit was called as a DJ in 2019 and he really heated the dance floor as not just students but many teachers too joined us. The life at CMRIT was great and I have no qualms over it. Some students do had their opinions on the areas where college could have done better. For me the college is a top-notch.
