Padre Conceicao College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Lokesh Yadav

PCCE is one of the top engineering colleges in Goa. It offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and Masters degree. PCCE is associated with the Goa University. The admission process requires the candidate to appear in an entrance exam called GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test). After the examination the rank list is generated and the counseling takes place. This college offers 4 branches of engineering that are mechanical (MECH), electrical (ETC), computer science (CS) and information technology (IT). This college is pretty reputed in Goa, students from many states across India are studying in this college.

I am a computer science (CS) student. Recently the course has been updated and brought many new amendments. The college has made the course more flexible for the students in 3rd year, now they can choose the subject in which they are interested, it can also be a subject from other department. These include artificial intelligence, data mining, cloud computing etc.

The faculty of the college are well qualified and highly trained. All of them have attained their master's degree in their respective domains. The faculties are very associative and have good rapport with their students. There are enough teachers for every department and subject. Though there are some teachers having obsolete way of teaching but there are also many faculties use creative way of teaching students, be it with the projectors or practically visualizing the concepts to their students in labs or graphically.

The training and placement cell conducts special classes to train students in soft skills, problem solving skills, verbal reasoning skills etc. The training and placement cell provides internship, special lectures and industrial visits for the students. Placements in the college is quite good, reputed companies like Amazon, IBM, TCS, Bosch etc. visit college for hiring students.

Unfortunately this college has hostel only for girls.

The college is spread across 25 acres of land. The college's main campus has one canteen and a building where all the classes, laboratories, auditorium, library and office are situated. The building has 4 floors, each floor is given to each department. The ground floor is dedicated for mechanical department, second floor is ETC, third floor is computer science and the fourth floor is for IT department. Every class is provided with a projector. Each floor has its own labs installed. The mechanical department's workshops like carpenter, welding, molding and fitting, are situated opposite to the main campus (across the road via a tunnel), where it's sports complex is present. The college has a football ground, two basketball courts, table tennis and badminton hall.

Though the campus is not huge enough to roam around, still its canteens are preferred hangouts location. The college has various technical, cultural and sports events organized by the students. PCCE organizes its own technical event called TECHYON. It happens for 3 days in which various events are organized by each department. Similarly, there's our cultural event called MITHYA where have inter-departmental competitions varying from solo and group dance/singing to fashion walks and many more. Likewise, the sports event, KURUKSHETRA, is held where various competitions are held, games like basketball, football, table tennis, cricket, tug-of-war, volleyball, athletics etc. Apart from this the college has various technical clubs from robotics to computers everything is covered. The seniors in the college are very friendly and everyone have a good association with each other.
