Mithila Minority Dental College and Hospital is situated in Laheriasarai, Darbhanga. It was established in 1989 and is known as the second oldest college in Bihar. It has received its affiliation from Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga. MMDCH upgraded to a post-graduate institute in the year 2016. It offers degrees in Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Masters in Dental Surgery. For admission in BDS, you must be qualified in the NEET UG Entrance test. And if you are interested in MDS then you must qualify NEET PG Entrance exam to be eligible. Candidates must have obtained 50% marks in the intermediate science stream. The college is managed by the managing director.

I qualified for my NEET UG in the year 2013. I graduated in the year 2018. The eligibility criteria are that a candidate must have obtained 50% in intermediate and have physics, chemistry, and, biology in +2. The counseling is done by the centralized counseling process by BCECE, Patna. The counseling process for MDS begins in March. BDS is a 5 years course and MDS a 3 year course.

We had three internal tests and one external exam every year. You have to pass all three internal tests to appear for the final exam. The internal exams are not very difficult if you are sincere with your studies. But in case, you don't manage to pass these tests they imply a fine upon you. The fine could be of any amount and, ranges from 10,000 to 15,000 Rs. It is a must to have 75% attendance to appear in the final exams. There is only one final exam in the MDS course and is held in the third year.

Every department of our college had tutors, senior lecturers, readers, assistant professors, and HOD. The teachers were highly educated and well equipped in their departments. We had teachers from almost all the states of India. Their level of interest in the students wasn't impressive. Most of them were there for their salary. But there were some exceptional cases too. We also had teachers coming from DMCH to teach medical subjects.

There isn't any campus selection in a dental college. You can either pursue a Master's degree or open your clinic. Opening a clinic has to be your ultimate goal. There are also many diploma courses that you can do. You can also look for jobs in foreign countries. Different exams are held by various countries. And when you qualify for those exams you are eligible to practice there. But as a fresher, I would suggest you practice as much as possible. For this, you can join someone's clinic or any hospital. There are also many government job opportunities. However, many people opt for a master's in hospital management.

There are two separate hostel buildings, one for the girls and one for the boys. The boy's hostel was a two storey building. The annual fees of the hostel were around Rs. 1 lakh during my time but they have increased it now. Neither we had any installed room conditioner nor, were we allowed installing one. The rooms were two seated. They used to cut off the electricity supply during college hours. So if you are on sick leave it used to be torturous. Without any cooling system, it used to get very hot during the summers. We had water coolers on every floor. There was not any laundry system. As compared to the girls, we were allowed to go to the market every day. The mess food was just okay. We used to get milk at night. They have also decreased the frequency of non-veg per week. Recently, they have even stopped providing the evening snacks in spite of a hike in the hostel fees. It gets almost impossible for a student to change rooms. We were not allowed to possess any electrical appliances such as a heater, electric kettle, induction, or even an iron. The college is very strict.

The college has three old and two new buildings. It has four lecture theaters, well-furnished but not air-conditioned. The college also has a large reading room for undergraduates and a small one for post-graduates. The library has all the necessary books and journals but, you cannot borrow them. The infrastructure is nothing to be impressed with. The best part of the infrastructure was a newly constructed mess. The old boy's mess was too small and was also unhygienic. We have tv and gym rooms in both the hostels. There is a cafeteria which is under furnished, unhygienic and overly charged. They always charge an extra amount on MRP. It also has a Digital library and a seminar room.

My overall campus life had been okay. As compared to girls, we were allowed to go to the market whenever we wished to. The college used to hold many sports competitions such as cricket, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, carrom, etc. I had always been an athlete and used to participate in many sports. But the star of the show was the JOSH FEST, and cricket used to be the heart of the fest. I was the captain of my cricket team in my internship. And of course! We did win the match. We have many grand parties on Christmas eve and a new year party every year. There are many other festival celebrations in college such as Eid, Diwali, Holi, Saraswati puja, etc. There were also many competitions such as art competition, quiz, etc.
