Wholesome build is what the institute believes in and therefore they have made sure that they keep a balance between academics and other activities. Like various other private engineering colleges in Bangalore, CMRIT, too have various societies and sports clubs. The students are not forced but are also not allowed to keep themselves distant from extra-circular activities. To make sure that fundamentals are strong rooter, the academics is given a close shave. The best part is the feedback mechanism that the institute has made mandatory has benefitted the students. The students can give feedback on the teaching methodology and if they are not satisfied the faculty members are changed upfront. I don’t know what else an institute can do to make sure that their students stay in the best zone. The compulsory mini projects that were implemented sometimes did felt tiring, but we know it’s for our benefits and therefore students gave all their blood and sweat to it. Cordial staff that has created a friendly atmosphere has made my college life at CMRIT worthwhile.

The engineering is all about basic fundamentals. Hence, the institute made sure that the utmost attention to the academics was given not just by the medium of classes, but by engaging the students in projects that will make the learning and understanding easy. It was a totally new concept but was something that I enjoyed for sure. The ratio of girl student is quite less at the college and that worked in our favor. The girls were the front benchers and our doubts were solved first. The privilege of being girl child made things even simpler. The college did this exercise as they want more and more girls to be a part of core engineering studies. Technical seminars were a regular thing at the college so that students can know about the current technical trends.

There were 7 engineering branches during our time and all the branches had separate set of faculty members. In our branch I don’t know the numbers but some 25-30 for sure. The lecturers were friendly and in addition to providing academic support, they also organized many non-technical activities that could actually benefit students doing technical studies. All the faculty members were highly qualified and knew how to make students give their best.

The training cell actually trained us in how to get a job from the campus itself. The report of that was sent to the placement cell that then made all the attempts so that maximum students can get placements through campus itself. All the blue-chip names such as Amazon, Flipkart, L&T Infotech, Mphasis, and Mindtree among others were at the campus and made sure that they take along maximum students. The institute also showed us the company names that recruited maximum students last year and when the placements were done and dusted of our batch, they again displayed the company names that took the maximum students. In 2016, it was TCS and in 2017 that is in our batch it was L&T Infotech that hired 104 engineers from various branches.

Being a local resident, I couldn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the hostel life. However, I saw the hostel in and out and therefore can answer that the hostel was decent. Basic necessities were provided to the hostel students. The hostel was also located inside the campus and that made the access to everything so easy as the lecture building was just 2 minutes away. The hostel buildings for girls and boys are different. As many as 800 students reside in the campus of CMRIT. Within a range of 3-4kms you have the market area and therefore you can get everything that you want easily. Even after college hours the hostel students had the access to all the facilities of the institute such as sports ground, library, and canteen. The rooms can be availed from single to four sharing. The late-night fun that I always use to hear from my friends is the major advantage. The only disadvantage is that you can’t step out of the hostel after 8 pm.

The college is massive and has the right infrastructure that an institute of this quality should have. From international canteen to lavish sports grounds, the campus has it all. The library and auditorium are such that they speak volumes about them. Hostels are also inside the campus and not like various other colleges of Bangalore where they have the hostel buildings outside so this is a huge bonus. Last but not the least it is the location of the institute that is even greater. Everything is within a range of 5kms from movie theatre to shopping complexes. The only disadvantage for me was that it took an hour from my house to reach the college.

Encouragement on extra-curricular activities made the campus life worth spending. The events were held all time of the year and how the time passed by is indeed a mystery. The fest CULTURA that was held in each semester didn’t just glorified the institute but brought laurels to students as well. The innovation center Makerspace was the best part as we as a student could experiment almost anything. The training on how to use devices and machines was given there and I learned a lot through that.
