Mount Caramel is one of the finest colleges under Bangalore University. The college is an all-girls college and for its science department also holds various awards. The college is well located and well built at the same time. Like various Bangalore colleges one thing that caught my eyes was the societies that were working at the college. MCC dancing community has garnered appreciation nation-wide. The college can flaunt about anything as the college has also given the world one of the divas of Bollywood in Deepika Padukone. After dance society what comes is the theatrical society. Their performances will leave you in splits for sure. To satisfy your hunger the college canteen is great. The other things that count for overall performance of the college is its crowd. MCC College Bangalore is a Christian college, but you will find students of all religion and girls from all over the country can be found here. Some foreigners too were my batch mates and I was thrilled to be friends with them.

Academic wise Mount Carmel College Bangalore is strict. I don’t know whether it's true or not but one story that kept doing the rounds in my time was that even Deepika Padukone had to cancel her shootings during college time so that she can have required attendance at the college. I know this is a story, but I heard it some 100 times as being a Calcutta girl, I thought I will be excused for bunking classes. Trust me the principal spares none. The quality of the education is just amazing. There’s no beating us at the University level in Science department.

The college has kept a balance by hiring some young and elderly teachers. The elder teachers made sure that we stay in discipline while the young faculty were ready for help and motivated us whenever we walked to them. The faculty members were some of the nicest that I came across. Not just that they helped us in studies but also persuaded us to be a part of some of the societies so that students can have a great personality development. The ratio of faculty members to students was also quite high and for subject the number of faculty was as high as 4-5. The college has spent well to get the best teachers available.

Mount Carmel College Placements society or cell has good approach with corporate and therefore placement has never been an issue. Before the company visit, we were prepared for the campus interview and that helped a great deal in getting a deal sealed. Bayer Crop Science and Biocon were the companies that showed interest in B.Sc students. Not just that Biocon owner Kiran Mazumdar even provided scholarship to study further to some of the students. There were many other companies on board but B.Sc placements were little low in comparison to others.

Many girls from all over the country come for studies in this college. This has made the management build a state-of-the art hostel that is inherent with all the features. There are 2 hostel blocs that are junior and senior. In the first year, we had to stay at the junior hostel where the rooms were provided on 4 sharing. Mount Carmel College hostel rooms are equipped with best lighting, bathrooms, and furniture. The hostel also has a mess facility and the food served was better than any other hostel for sure. The variety of the food is also something that one should take in reckoning. There’s a huge common hall and a library room at the hostel. The curfew time for the junior hostel is 7pm and for the senior hostel is 8pm. The warden comes on round twice and also the security guards are there to ensure that no forced entry can be done, or any student can go out without proper permissions.

The college area is huge and therefore if one needs alone time, they have a lot of place to hide. The lawn of the college is the busiest spot of the college. The college also has medical facility on the campus. The college has a huge library that is stocked with books of almost all disciplines. The college has adopted the digital system and therefore all the classes have turned digital during our batch. The canteen is great, and it would great for spinning a cup of coffee with friends at the canteen. The other canteen serves food as well. The labs are modern and have all the modern equipment’s. The college is also Wi-Fi and one will get signal at any corner of the college. Security wise the college is continuously under surveillance.

The fests and events at Mount Carmel are worth being a part of. The diversity at the campus is something that I have never witnessed else-where. The campus is green and baking sun during the winter in the garden is one of my best memories at MCC. As a fresher at MCC, I encountered with some of the best supportive groups. Many seniors I looked upon as a role model as they were so distinguished. All this made the college life at MCC worthwhile.
