NIT Andhra Pradesh (also known as NIT Tadepalligudem) is one of the newest NITs of India. Being established in the year 2015, the college has received very bad reviews at the beginning in the domains of college location, facilities, infrastructure, labs, teaching, food, etc. But within a span of 3 years, the college has stabilized itself in providing the required facilities increasing its reputation gradually. The construction of the campus is almost done, currently accommodating students for B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD. I am from the batch 2017-2021. So, I will be passing out this year. Before our batch, there were two passed-out batches. I can say that though the starting three batches of the college couldn't gain much from the college, the upcoming batches surely will enjoy their campus life.

Coming to academics, I have taken electronics and communication engineering. An average score in JEE mains will get you admission in the electronics and computer science domain. Whereas, a below-average score can easily help you in getting admission into other branches. The main reason to join this course is one can get into software as well as hardware domains on taking up this course. The course subjects are very easy to grasp and understand if one is passionate about the course. A point to note is self-study is mandatory no matter how well the staff teaches you. Getting a job in ECE core needs more theoretical knowledge. Whereas, software jobs are easy to crack with your coding skills. Moreover, ECE students can benefit from the GATE exam with options for further studies and government jobs.

When it comes to the faculty and teaching in the electronics domain, the department has a sufficient count of faculty to assist the students in their academics. Around 15-20 professors are associated with ECE. And most of them are good and knowledgeable. The whole college consists of around 150 faculty. Talking about the experience, 40 percent of the faculty are well-versed in their respective domains with a handful of technical experience in the core subjects (permanent faculty). Whereas the remaining 60 percent of faculty are ad-hoc faculty (temporary) and they will be replaced every year. Most of the permanent faculty at the campus did their Ph.D. and M.Tech in highly reputable institutions with good background scores and knowledge. The subjects are taught in a not-so-bad way. As already mentioned, self-study is highly recommended apart from the faculty assistance.

As NIT Andhra Pradesh is a newly established institute, one cannot expect a high salary package while joining the institution. The placement activities are all organized by the training and placement cell of the college. The cell helps you only with the details regarding the company, job role, and the process. And it is solely you who needs to work to get placed. Recently I have placed on-campus with Deloitte as a business technology consultant. The top companies visiting the campus are - Accenture, Blume Global, TCS, Deloitte, L&T, Cognizant, Melsova, SAP, Berger, Modak Analytics, ADP, Brahmos, Zensar, Raam Group, Virtusa, Factset. Most of the companies visiting are from the software side. The highest package so far is around Rs. 16 LPA. The average package is around Rs. 4-5 LPA. Approximately 80 out of 460 students got placed in our batch (2017-21) so far.

For the past 3 years, the hostel was taken under lease until the completion of the permanent campus. During 2020, partial construction of the campus is done and so the students were provided with hostels with good infrastructure. The rooms are clean and hygienic. A total of 8 blocks, 4 for girls and 4 for boys are allotted. Each block is given for a particular batch of students. The first-year students are given rooms with 4 per room, the second year with 3 per room, the third year with 2 per room, and the final year with one per room. The hostel fee per year is around Rs. 60,000 including the mess fee. Coming to the mess, the food is not up to the quality. Very boring food with fewer items. There is a strict security system followed at NIT Andhra Pradesh. And one must obey the rules to avoid any further complications.

Being a new college, the institute is not up to good standards in offering the required facilities to the students. The institute has a small library with no indoor and outdoor sports facility, laboratories to lack the required equipment, and the hostels are equipped with very poor standard WI-FI for girls as well as boys. There is no 24*7 medical facility, The classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi but very poor signal and a lot of speed fluctuations. The laboratories are of the average standard with moderate facilities but fully air-conditioned. The good thing about the institute is that it offers transport facilities for its students who are staying outside the campus, buses for outings, and internal bus transport within the campus too.

The campus life at NIT Andhra is really disappointing. The first three batches have faced a lot of difficulties losing their campus life into thin air. With no proper infrastructure and facilities, we used to spend a very boring life on the campus. But the upcoming batches can enjoy to the fullest as the development of the campus now is at a fast pace. There are various clubs available on the campus like Dance and Dramatics, Literature and debate, Photography, Music, Painting, Robotics, Magazine club, etc. Each department has its own association like ECEA, CSEA, EEA, etc. There will be an annual fest being conducted every year called "VULCANZY". It is a techno-cultural fest which goes on for three days. And the college will excite you with basic events like independence day, republic day, sports and other sorts of activities. Overall, I can say that it will be a really nice college for the upcoming batches.
