Overall Rating
I appeared for WBJEE in 2023 and got a rank of 7332. I opted for University of Calcutta and got admitted in instrumentation Engineering. My over all experience has been excellent. Campus (salt lake) is new and beautiful, classes are air-conditioned, etc. One should definitely take admission if he/she wants to pursue a B.Tech course without hefty fees.
 

Academics Rating
In our college most of the faculties are very experienced and highly qualified, many have research papers published in different subjects, departments are very old like my department instrumentation Engineering which is under applied physics is completing its centenary year. Many students did excellent in GATE like one senior Arka Roy got air 13 in GATE CSE. So academics are very great. If you want to get admission in top branches you will need a rank above 2000, If you have reservation than 5000 will do. Prepare for WBJEE for at least 6 months.
 

Faculty Rating
Most of the faculties are very experienced and connected with students. We do many activities with our professors. This year our department completed 100 years, so our professors are hosting a conference in dhana dhanye auditorium. Most of our professors have teaching experience in Universities like Aliah, Techno India, etc.
 

Placement Rating
No, we don't have a Placement Cell yet, because our batch strength is very low compared to others placements that are handled by a placement officers only. This year average package was 11 LPA and the highest package was offered by Siemens (22 LPA).
 

Hostel Rating
We do have hostels, one in Rajabazar science college, one in Ballygunge science college, and one in saltlake. Hostels are for the students whose home is at least 60 km away from college. Hostel fees are nominal, building are mostly old buildings, have many indoor sports, badminton, courts, etc.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is great. The salt lake campus is new and modern. Every classroom in it has 3 air conditioners. Hence it has 5 floors elevator facilities are available. Our library has almost 2000 books. Laboratories of subjects Chemistry, Physics, Electrical, Computer, etc. are there with latest equipments. Practical classes are 3 times a week. College also has a canteen.
 

Campus Rating
The college life is excellent here. Fests are held at each department. Our sports department hosts sporting events regularly. Hackathons are also well participated. There are many clubs such as drama, coding, music, debate, etc. clubs. But there are no musical fests here and most participants are students. no artists or outsiders are allowed to be here.

    I have been a first year student at University of Calcutta for B.Tech course. This University is good for students who are from economically weak background as this college has very less fees. This college provides a wonderful opportunity to students for internship and placements.     Overall assessment of Calcutta University’s M.Sc course has been good. The academics here are also really good. The faculty members are always there to help and are very supportive guiding through the topics. They use multiple teaching techniques. Admissions are simple and the course fee is pocket-friendly.   • My Overall Journey at University of Calcutta

    The emphasis on lab skills as well as research is laudable in the M.Sc. Botany program at the University of Calcutta. The placement scenario is quite good as there are TCS, Wipro, Biocon, Pfizer, etc. who are ready to offer lucrative packages. The tuition fees are nominal, other than that there are merit-based scholarships for students.     First of all, it's one of the finest colleges for B.Tech in West Bengal. Its academic is not so tough, even average students will be able to enrol very easily. Faculties are very understanding and helpful. Internship start from 5th semester and almost 100% eligible candidates get placed. Hostel facility is very nice, there is no ragging as such, food is good enough. Infrastructure and campus life is alright. So, a choice for others.... Read Full Review
