Overall assessment of Calcutta University’s M.Sc course has been good. The academics here are also really good. The faculty members are always there to help and are very supportive guiding through the topics. They use multiple teaching techniques. Admissions are simple and the course fee is pocket-friendly. The campus is well-equipped with modern classrooms, libraries, labs, and other facilities. Placement cell is active and a large number of big companies visit for placements.

1. M.Sc in Botany was my motive to join the college: I selected this course to gain more insights about applications of plant and solving real problems with their methods. 2. Eligibility/ Minimum Qualification: at least 55% in graduation degree. 3. Selection: Merit basis admissions are provided. The application form is available at the University website and there is no application fee. 4. How often are the exams conducted: The exams are conducted once in a semester, which is end term. 5. In course of Practical reasoning: The course has practical sessions and projects to remove the gap between theory and practice.

Tuition fee: Rs. 8,694/- per year. Fees for Admission & Registration: None. Women are granted special discounts through the Government subsidy scholarships. Sponsorships & Financial Aid: Scholarships in the form of K3 are awarded to women.

Faculty contains professionals with strong qualifications who are having an academic background. Most of the Faculty Members are Ph.D. holders with Several Journals Contributions. Teaching: Blackboards, Power point presentation and group collaboration are also used as teaching methods. Prof. / Faculty: Faculty members are friendly and can help in solving complex problems. Class Teacher Ratio: The ideal ratio per student to ensure a teacher-customized attention on students. Interaction with faculty and being friendly / vibrant: faculty members are accessible and approachable to ask queries and it gives good learning environment.

Placement Cell: Yes, There is a Placement Cell. The Placement Cell Organizes Training Sessions and Mock Interviews, Links Students for Internships/Job Positions, etc. Placement Activities & Programs organized by the college are Resume Booster workshop, soft skill development and state visits. Big companies that visit the college to offer placements are EXL, HDFC Bank, Genpact, Accenture and Infosys. The Package offered are, Average package is around Rs. 6 LPA with the top package being higher. The Entire placement process is planned and hence often students have better chances in getting placed in good/reputed companies.

Yes, College has Hostels. There are various facilities like recreation and study rooms, common areas, etc. Separate Hostels for Girls and Boys are provided. The mess food quality is fair good. It is prepared hygienically & it provides 3 meals. The hostel rules are very strict with set timings for both entry and exit. The hostel setting is perfect for studying and unwinding with some chill vibes.

CU campus is designed with good academic blocks & Contemporary amenities. The campus is huge, lying in a very calm area. All classrooms have the seating facilities and audio-visual aids. The libraries are well arranged and managed. The laboratories, auditorium seminar halls, etc. are also provided. There is different kind of food options available in the canteen & for the recreational and health reasons. Various sports facilities along with medical services transport and security arrangements also exist in the premises. My favorite place to be is library, where there is quiet to help me study. The labs and seminar halls are a boon specifically for practical as well as presentation.

Campus is lively and an exciting place. College Crowd: Its rock-n-roll serious party that could make most students feels small. Engagement Activities: there are cricket, football, carom competitions and chess challenges are also organized regularly as extracurricular activities. Fests/Events: The campus conducts annual fests & social events which are a breath of fresh air from studying. Experience: I can say that having been part of campus life, it has been a great opportunity of balance between study & enjoyment.
