Being a second-year student I only got 6 months before the pandemic to experience my college. In these 6 months, iLEAD has helped me in shaping my personality in various ways. iLEAD has been ranked as the 4th best media college in India. Though it’s a media college it also teaches courses like Bachelors in Business Administration, Gaming, Culinary Science, fashion designing, and animation. Our admission was based on a PI round and group discussion and a compulsory entrance exam. We also had a special session for parents before the college starting where the director of the college gave a speech about parenting which has helped my parents a lot. Next, we had student orientation where I got to know my classmates and made contacts with seniors through different events and tasks. After this, my session started in fashion designing.

Though I had my physical classes for 8-9 months before the pandemic and lockdown, I have learned a lot from the college. In our first semester, we learned about different designs and sewing. Before every semester we had a fashion show where we had to make three designable clothes in a given period. I had the option to choose my model which was very exciting. A proper fashion show was organized with teachers and few guests also which gave me a feeling of real fashion shows and also I have gained a lot of experience from it. Other than these we were given presentations, projects, and sketches.

The pandemic situation had created many disadvantages for me. Due to lockdown, we couldn't have our practical classes. But I am glad to have a helpful and highly qualified teacher who helped me a lot after the lockdown to buck up. They also helped us in our presentations and showed us how to manage the bulk of works in a very short period. They taught us in friendly and in easy ways. Not only our department teachers but also teachers of other departments guided us in many ways. We had doubt clearing classes organized by the faculty members every week.

During the lockdown period, we were offered several internships through the college. Some of them were paid and a few were unpaid. They also allow us to witness few fashion shows held in the city and this particular task has helped me a lot in my life. We get to communicate with different designers and explore ideas in the fashion designing industry. Also, few brands come to our college and show us how the fashion design industry works. They offered me placements under numerous well-known designers and export houses which have helped me a lot in shaping my career in fashion designing.

When I first came to the college hostel and entered my room, I was quite nervous about what kind of roommates I will get. But it took only a few days for me to adapt to that friendly and homely environment. The rooms were very much spacious with attached bathrooms and cleaning services twice a week. We also got the advantages of free Wi-Fi, refrigerator, air conditioner, 24 hours water supply, and power backup and refrigerator. My roommates were very much helpful, most of the days they helped me a lot with my projects and making clothes. All total I can say that I have lived the best moments in my life here.

I was amazed to see how our college has taken environmental issues seriously. The whole college is decorated with small plants and recycled things. We had two big rooms for fashion designing. One was for a theoretical class and another was for practice. The most interesting fact was that our practical class looked like professional fashion studios. We have two complexes. The first one has classes, an auditorium, and a cafeteria. The second campus has a big sports complex where outdoor sports like football, cricket, etc. are being played and also indoor sports like chess, carom, table tennis, pool, etc. was available. We were also given gym facilities.

Maybe I have spent few months in college or able to attain physical classes but I have enjoyed it a lot. Many events were held in our colleges. “Adrenaline” our college fest was held where we had different competitions and events. I participated in few sports events and cultural events and also bagged few prizes. We also had sessions where film stars came for their movie promotion. I always attained those for getting a chance to meet an actress or an actor. Sometimes famous YouTube bloggers used to come for sharing ideas about how to manage social media pages. I expect to learn more and enjoy more when our college reopens after the pandemic.
