Symbiosis Institute of International Business MBA Review By Rakesh Singh

After doing BBA-IB from BMCC all I wanted to do is to take my studies further in the same. Symbiosis Institute of International Business was the only institute that offered MBA-IB. Also, my percentile was such that I had to be contained with SIIB. At the end of the day, I am quite happy with my career and job. It was SIIB that gave me so many opportunities to explore. One thing that I missed a little in my last college is that students didn’t have an opportunity to develop all-round but Symbiosis is all about overall development of students. At, SIIB I got the chance to meet and interact with studies that have come through foreign exchange program. Learning different foreign languages and interacting with non-Asian people was a great experience. For all those who are not confident of CAT or haven’t score exceptionally at CAT, should also sit for SNAP as there is a chance that you may have admission one of the group college of SYMBI if you have scored over 90 percentile.

The institute’s curriculum was not that vast and attending conclaves, seminars were more crucial than the lectures. The institute has its share on studies but have their ways of making sure that students have the required knowledge. The institute has thrived to be the best and therefore academic wise the institute has made a supreme effort to impart knowledge in students. One has to put themselves out if they want to do MBA and the classrooms atmosphere made it rather easy. The course is more of a research based and assignments on relevant topics were assigned to us on daily basis. Any mishap with that was taken seriously and the course is meant only for those you seriously want to pursue MBA from SIIB.

Not just qualified but more than supportive than I actually thought. The reasons for SIIB being ranked among the top is the efforts that have been put behind by its faculty. The faculty constantly monitored the progress of the students and taking periodic tests was the way they did it. Some old school rules were in place by the faculty for us but that was for us. Their teaching style to their guidance everything was cheered by all of us. The faculty members knew each one of us by our names and they also remember the ex-students who have done exceptionally well.

SIIB Placement is 100% as the internships were mandatory and even if we haven’t done well in that, we were trained even harder to make sure that before the final placements are done all the students are placed. If you are smart enough before the final year commences, you will have a job in hand. The average placements was Rs. 8LPA and the highest was over Rs. 20 LPA. Banks and the IT companies that were in close vicinity were the ones who recruited us. I am staying in Hinjewadi for the past 4 years now and that is because of SIIB.

All three colleges that are SCMHRD, SCIT, and SIIB have common hostel facilities at a little interval from the college. Staying in hostel was a compulsion and both boys and girls hostel were in the same campus. The boy’s hostel had a capacity of 400 students and all hostel rooms were perfect. You had the option of sharing the rooms with 2-4 students. The rooms were allotted randomly and there are chances that you may have to share the rooms with SCIT or SCMHRD students as well. The hostel campus was clean and so were the rooms. Strictness with the timing was in place. The food provided by the SIIB hostel was also up to scratch.

SIIB campus is its own and it doesn’t share the campus with any other institute. The campus has hills on either side and the open skies at the campus made the atmosphere conducive for studies. The campus is spread across 5 acres and has all the facilities from academic block to swimming pool. There are 2 entrance gates of the campus and the auditorium hall is designed like a multiplex hall. The seating are comfortable and has a 30mm screen. The library has all the management books and daily newspapers and periodicals can be found in the library. For practice the computer lab was equipped with all the materials and the latest PCs. The campus has a mess and a cafeteria. A well planned heath club is present at the campus that has a swimming pool and some indoor sports courts and tables. There is also an aerobic and yoga centre in that health club. A medical officer is always available at the campus.

From classes to guest lectures and live workshops is how 2 fruitful years of life passed. The quizzes, events and a special mention to Ignisense (College Fest) that also had a marketing fair was one of the best events I have seen. I have been to huge corporate events but if given a choice I would still love to be a part of that. I don’t know about other institutes but our college has 55-45 ratio among boys and girls. If you compare it with any other management institute this is much higher.
