ITM University is situated in the city of Gwalior. It has several graduate and post-graduate programs. Some of these are geotechnical engineering, pharmacy, computer science, nursing, and criminal law. The academics were not up to my expectations here. However, they did push me to become more independent in my way of learning. The teachers are kind, and they are helpful if you approach them individually. There are hostels for boys and girls at the hostel. The campus has facilities like a gym, library, computer lab, and cafeteria. There extra-curricular clubs in this college, and you can take part in them. There are also sports teams in the college that participate up to the national level. You can do all that you want at ITM as the management back its student thoroughly to excel in which ever fields we wanted to.
I pursued my Masters of technology in computer science here. The total number of seats available per year for this course is 18. Only the best of the best can make it here. To be eligible for this course, you need to have passed your Bachelors of Technology/Engineering with a score of at least 50%. Then comes the entrance which is as tough as it gets. ITM takes the best and get the best out of them so that they can have all the luxury to be a complete engineer. I don’t know if I had any doubts or questions regarding academics because everything was taught so thoroughly that one can nail it. I nailed it and also my batch mates and because I know each student from my batch personally, I can say that we all were clear about the academic part.
The teachers were alright here compared to the college in which I got my graduate degree. Here, the majority of them are highly qualified with doctorates in their respective fields. However, their teaching style is more of an independent style. This is also good in one aspect as it made the students less dependent, and we had to go in search of whatever we needed. The teachers are all approachable and you can go to them with any doubts that you have about the topics or lectures. Some of the teachers are also involved in research and you can ask them if you can take part in it as well.
The placement cell is not so good at this college for M.Tech. Also, they do not help so much when we try to secure internships. This was disappointing. A few companies came to the college like Wipro and TCS. The average package per annum was about 5 lakhs. The highest package in my year was 11 lakhs. I would suggest you try for companies on your own in your final semester of the course. You can try through online job sites, and also make sure to keep good networking.
There are hostels for both boys and girls in the hostel. The boys’ hostel can accommodate up to around 1100 boys, while the girls’ hostel can accommodate up to 200 girls. A majority of the rooms are two-seaters and three-seaters. They include a desk, chair, and wardrobe. There is Wi-Fi available in both of the hostels. Both of the hostels have a shared mess. Mostly north Indian food is provided here. The food is pretty average here. Both of the hostels have security during the day and the night. The hostels do have vans that come at specified timings if you want to travel to nearby areas like the city. It is mainly vegetarian food. You can get non-vegetarian food by paying extra money.
The infrastructure is pretty average at ITM University Gwalior. There is a useful computer lab located on campus. You can go here to use the internet and also print out any documents you may need to print out. There is a medium-sized library located on campus. It has most of the books that you may require for the course. You can use the books in the library itself or check them out to take them home. There is an amphi-theatre in the college. Many of the cultural events and plays take place here throughout the year. There is a cafeteria at the college where you can go to get snacks and meals throughout the day. There are various sports fields located on the campus itself. These include a basketball court, hockey field, football field, and cricket field. Apart from this, there are also indoor facilities for sports like badminton. There is a gymnasium on campus as well that can be used by students throughout the week. There is an ATM near the main gate.
I would say that the ITM Gwalior campus is an average one. The way of teaching here taught me to be more independent and helped me develop interpersonal skills. All of the basic facilities are there on campus like a library, computer lab, and canteen. If you like to participate in cultural activities, then KRONOS is the fest for you. It is the annual college fest that takes place over a couple of days. It is one of the biggest college fests in central India, and it is really fun to experience.
