Karnavati University M.Sc Review By Vishal Salat

From engineering to management, I had to take a year break to prepare myself. Karnavati University admission procedure is even tougher as the entrance is followed by a group discussion and a personal interview. Karnavati University also has an army quota and if I am not wrong I was the only student entering through that quota. Never mind as my score would have got me admission here anyhow. From Ahmedabad to Gandhi Nagar was just an hour's drive but I always pushed myself to wake up 10 minutes early as the campus was so beautiful that I couldn’t chase hunting down every single minute there. Studies were more of fun as professionalism played a bigger role and projects and industrial visits were quite common and since most of those visits were in Ahmedabad, it made my life easier. KU has everything one can look for in a University. You get students of many streams for interacting and learning new things. I had this knack for learning and the University helped me with that as we had new assignments every single day. KU is wily character in the sense that the faculty, students, and the management always imposed challenging things that kept students engaging and crave for more.

The classrooms were digital which I was used to unlike many who came from Universities where still the blackboards were used. Laptops were not allowed in the class but we were given all the notes and syllabus matter in the college portal. We had to brush that up daily as uninvited tests were taken at will and the academics seemed cooler until that point. If the tests saw students boiling eggs they were taken to cleaners. I enjoyed the new subject that I made sure to spend at least an hour on what was taught in the class. On my way back through, I checked all those and utilized every second that I could.

They proposed us for projects and activities and even if we skip classes for a student meeting they were cool with it. The faculty would record the lecture and upload it on the student’s portal so that we can go through that when we have time. All this may sound unreal but it was surreal at KU. The faculty some of them were young and worked in the respective field of the subjects they taught us. They also helped us during the placements as they knew what we would be asked and what answers will they like to hear. Without naming anyone, I would like to thank them all.

The package was a little disappointing but the field I chose, I knew the scope of growth is sky-high. I have been a huge admirer of KV Kamath Sir and working in their organization even for a year became possible because of KU. The training for the placements was already given by our faculty and therefore cracking the placement code became quite easy. Most of the students did that and got placed in the banking sector, insurance sector, and housing finance companies. The package that most of us got was between 5-6 lakhs and when we entered the organization we saw that package we got was less than people doing the same job got. For placement purpose, there are many better colleges than KU and this is the only negative about KU.

I didn’t stay there but there were many hostel buildings just outside the campus. The girl’s hostel buildings were inside the campus and students of all the 5 colleges of the University stayed in the same hostels. The hostels hosted their own events and unfortunately, students like me couldn’t be a part of that. I already stayed in a hostel during my UG and luckily my mother shifted to Ahmedabad and even though she agreed to me staying at the hostel, I denied as I already had enough of hostel life. If one hasn’t stayed at the hostel during their UG they can look at this option because the hostel looked good and most importantly the food served at Karnavati University Hostel will never let you miss your home.

5 colleges under one roof made Karnavati University Campus. They also have a dental college that has its own campus. The University looked like a garden. If greenery is a product then KU can well be its brand ambassador. The computer labs to both the amphitheaters everything at the campus was built so architecturally that one can go in awe of that. The cafeteria was an AC restaurant that served beverages and meals both. The cricket stadium with 8 floodlights made the ground look even beautiful during the cricket tournaments that the University hosted. All the 5 colleges had to send in their best teams and I competed in the events representing the management college. One can debate all day long about the infrastructure but KU’s infrastructure was so filmy that one can shoot an entire film at the campus.

3 years down and I could pen all my thoughts down in just 20 minutes. This is enough to prove that I remember every second spent at the campus. From making friends to being a part of the events that I felt I could be a change was worth it. The college cultural fest was a grand affair as the University roped in Arijit Singh to perform and the crowd was dancing throughout.
