ABES Engineering College MCA Review By Nitu Singh

First of all, many people get confused between ABES IT and ABES EC. Both are different as ABESEC is old while ABESIT is new. The campuses are adjacent but both the colleges have their own campus. MCA is offered only by ABES Engineering College and is one of the best colleges for MCA. All the fundamentals regarding the course are cleared once you study at this college. There are many helpful activities for students done at the college. The activities include competitions, fest, and seminars all year round. Ragging is non-existent and juniors and seniors mingle well at the college. At the college entrance, there’s a temple of Goddess Saraswati and to me, this is a bonus as it made us realize that we are here for studies. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled and also you will see a security camera in all corners of the college. The college has set up a center for excellence facility and you can learn many things beyond books there. There are many prizes for scoring good marks as the top 3 students are rewarded handsomely. This initiative by the college made sure that students work hard. Just a couple of negatives like the crowd again was totally from UP or Haryana so don’t expect a cosmopolitan crowd like you may find in Amity University Noida or other such universities. The other one is that the college conducts exams twice before the final exams and we have to appear for that as there are no excuses for that.

Books are issued only by the library and that too at a very nominal price. As soon as the semester ends, you have to return the books. The classrooms are air-conditioned and spacious. The labs are too good as I have never seen such a high-speed net ever. Even at my corporate job the net I would say is 24 in comparison to what we had at ABES. 75% attendance is compulsory and even if you represent the college at any events the required attendance won’t be given any leeway. The pre-semester exams was a nice way to measure are we up to the syllabus or not.

GP marks will only depend on how you have performed at the exams. The college faculty have no role to play with students marking. Thus the markings and all would be fair. The faculty were quite helpful as they identified the students who need extra attention and made them sit at the front. Also after the classes, they would call us to clear our basics which obviously I couldn’t during my BCA at Maharshi Dayanand University. No matter how much I praise them, it would be less only.

Above expectation for sure. I came all the way from Rohtak to Ghaziabad as I needed placement and ABES Engineering College Placements is the best among the colleges in this area. M.Tech and MCA students are treated at par and AMCAT test which these days have become a new normal for the IT companies. We were trained for over a month to make sure that we pass that test. Our scores were sent to the respective companies directly by the college and then placements was just a formality. On an average, the pay scale was 7-8 lakhs while the highest package for MCA during our batch was 14 lakhs. Almost all the students got the placements as well. If one is looking at the placement then ABES CE is one of the best.

There are 5 boys and 3 girls hostel on the campus. ABES Engineering College hostel was so luxurious that I can’t tell. The rooms were average but facilities other than that were mind-blowing. The boy's hostel had a common room that had pool tables, badminton courts, and a TV lounge. These facilities made sure that we hardly step out because the in-time was a little strict. For girls, it was 6.30 pm and for boys 8.30. We always felt like, we should have some extra leeway here but spending time at the hostel was not an issue at all. The college’s basketball court is also beside the boy's hostel and so we hostel students were the first ones to capture the courts during the college hours. The day scholars didn’t like that but poor them as we had the majority. The food at the hostel was good but not something that one can eat all month long.

The campus is lush green and all the buildings are centrally air-conditioned. The college playground is awesome as it had enough grass to dive on while playing. The library was big and was mostly full because the hostel rooms didn’t had AC while the library did. For eatery, there are enough options on the campus itself. There was a Nescafe, D’s Café, Sir John Bakery, and Hangouts café outlet inside the campus. The infrastructure is a little old though as this is the oldest college of the ABES group.

For PG students there’s a dress code. Well if you think that one can get away with attendance then please drop all your plans because if you fail with required attendance, you will be disqualified for the internal exams. Wearing a uniform properly and carrying I-card was also compulsory otherwise you will be a victim of unnecessary warnings. Life was fun at ABES as I spent most of the time while in Ghaziabad at the college campus only.
