Lingaya's Vidyapeeth B.Sc Review By Mansur Alam

Lingaya's Vidyapeeth is a good private University but not so famous outside Delhi-NCR. The placements are average or below average because only 3 out of 10 had the placement and that too not that decent. The University has 8 schools on one campus. There are numerous courses in the University and eligibility criteria for all are different. One can apply online or take the form directly from the institute and fill it. The cut-off for B.Sc in 2014 was 73%. One can argue that it’s below par but still for the ones who couldn’t get admission to top colleges of Delhi NCR, then Lingaya is not a bad option. Many negative outrages against the University are often seen but only from the uninformed people. First of all the University is strict and is known for the strictness that it has brought in place. I was satisfied with many things while few things didn’t impress me at all. One can easily enjoy their life along with studies. This is not just for B.Sc students but I know students from the other colleges of the University also. They have the same view and there are some negative about the University but to have some sort of life while studying, Lingaya is rather a better option.

Academic wise I was pretty much satisfied. The curriculum offered was better and also made us realize that B.Sc is not that easy. With all the facilities and average teachers have made sure that good education is imparted. Students most of them are not so serious and even in course like B.Sc took it lighter than they should. The college is quite strict as on days we were asked to bring our laptops we had to. A failure in that resulted in absent mark and also some strict warnings came along. The alarming signs were raised if the attendance is not maintained. Thus the college is strict and learning at the college was decent.

There’s always some good and some bad is what I have observed. Some of the faculty were nice will some carefree. As a student, my duty was to study hard and always stay ahead of the schedule. Some faculty rather than teaching told us to come and study the chapters and ask doubts. Students also didn’t care as they willfully answered that we have no doubts. Even God helps those, those who help themselves. Thus one can only be obedient as the rest follows. No magic happens at the university level as mostly its self-study.

The one good thing about the university is that they have a tie-up with the Indian Navy. Many students from the university have got placed in the Indian Navy. B.Sc students are the preferred ones as Physics and applied science are the main subjects of Navy exams. Those who were interested can apply through the forms available in the university. Apart from the Indian Navy some Pharma and IT companies also hired some students but on an average, only 30% of students had the last laugh. The placements were poor and this needs attention. Not just B.Sc, I got in touch with few other students of other departments and from what I saw, none of the branch students were happy at all.

There are 2 large hostel buildings and even though the college is pretty far from the city, students from Faridabad were denied admissions. Not fair on the university’s part because some students had to travel more than an hour to reach the university. Coming to the hostel, the building looked alright and the facilities were good. Rest I don’t know much as I put up in Faridabad and so was not allowed. The in time was good as for girls it was 10 pm and for boys, it was 11 pm.

The biggest drawback is the location. If you don’t have your own vehicle then you will have to depend on the transportation facility provided by the university. The university buildings are colorful and all buildings have a shade of orange in them. The roads inside the university are clean and were renovated in 2015. There are 2 lawns and square-shaped cricket ground with a nice green top pitch at the center. The university has 2 canteens and seriously are not enough. There are no good restaurants near the university campus and at least the university should have taken this into account. No problems though as the 2 canteens that they have are small but in 20-25 minutes you will have the item you order. The area of the university taking into account that it has 8 schools and nearly 1500 students is not that big.

B.Sc looks like a course different from others because the rest of other schools students have friends in other departments. B.Sc though seems like isolated for no reason. Everyone thinks that B.Sc is an in-between course because not do they shine like other department students at the fest and neither have they all the time in the world. The norm seemed confusing but it’s alright as we had a life of our own. There’s a cricket competition held between all the schools of the university and the B.Sc department won it all three years.
