St Joseph Engineering College B.Tech Review By Gallven Elijah Martis

I chose this college as it is one of the top colleges in the city of Mangalore. Furthermore this college has a lush green campus. The other reason of choosing this college is also that it has a lot of clubs for engaging students in their interested hobbies and a lot of technical and non-technical activities and fests.

The course I have taken is BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This course was very much in demand when I was getting admission and that is the reason I chose this course. The subjects are all related to the course and it also enhances our skills with the help of group projects. I got admission through the minority quota and I had to write an entrance exam for it. All the details about it are available in the college office or the college website. The exam syllabus is similar to the of the KCET exam.

The faculty of SJEC is very welcoming and nice. They are always approachable and ready to help you in need. You can always rely on them to solve your doubts and issues. Students are also assigned personal mentors that guide them through the academic semester and also help them in their personal matters. The teachers are all having a qualified bachelor’s degree and are fully professional in the work they do.

We do have placements in our college. The average placement package is known to be 24 LPA. There are 79+ recruiters.

I am a day scholar but I have heard about the hostel students telling that it is one of the most efficient things for them as they live far away. There are a lot of facilities including clean drinking water and a mess for food.

Students like to chill around in the campus in their free time. There are three academic blocks and a block for the library and the CCC room. The library has a vast variety of books to enhance your knowledge. A canteen and a cafeteria are also present in the college for students. There are clean and spacious classrooms and labs in the campus. There is also an amphitheater for the students to sit and chill during free hours and to conduct open mic and other performances. There also all kinds of sports and games like basketball, chess, football, throw ball, etc. for students. The college also has a studio called "Melodium" for the music enthusiasts to record covers and dubbing.

The college has different clubs with students of different interests and students are free to join any club they want. Students are always encouraged to take part in extracurricular and also start clubs that are interesting to other students. There are also a lot of fests throughout the year like Milan (traditional day), Tiara (technical and non-technical competitions: a three day event) and Sports Day. Students take part in large numbers in these fests. There are also regular hackathons conducted for the coding fans and students love taking part in such competitions.
