The reason that I chose SJEC is because of its uniqueness in infrastructure, learning methodologies, practices and placements. In SJEC I came across teachers with a thorough and enriching experience in their field, but more than that, they have a willingness to make known to the students, their learning’s and ensure that everyone understands every concept of every field of their choice. The teachers are really supportive and friendly, with all students. As per my experience, I would not be wrong to say that everyone at SJEC has a welcoming spirit towards friendships. You can easily make new friends, either in your class or when you join different technical and non-technical clubs that are present in the college. SJEC is known for fostering an environment of collaboration in every aspect of life, whether its academics or club activities and so on.

Personally, I chose Electronics and Communication Engineering as my specialization. For that specialization, the cutoff was more than 70% in pre university and SSLC. However, I got a concession in my fee due to my CET ranking. There are multiple specializations to chose from, ranging from Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering and so on. Computer Science Engineering has many sub-specializations to choose from, such as Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS), Computer Science and Data Science (CSDS) and so on. If you are passionate about coding and programming to find solutions and also want to pursue your career as a software engineer then Computer Science is the best choice to go for. However if you have a specific goal in mind such as learning about business or data science along with software, then CSBS or CSDS would be the best choices. These specializations also come with free courseware access and a great number of workshops and placement opportunities for every candidate who enrolls in them. Since, Artificial Intelligence is finding its applications in a huge number of domains these days, there is a high possibility that this field would continue to evolve in the future too. If you are passionate about creating AI models, or just learning about how AI and Machine Learning works, you can consider pursuing your specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as well. The cutoffs for all these specializations demands a good CET ranking or COMEDK ranking. It is also recommended that you consider applying for the KRLMPCA exam that is periodically organized at our campus. A high score in this exam would fetch great discounts on the course fees for these wonderful specializations.

The faculty members in my course are quite well versed in their curriculum. Most of them have acquired their Ph.D in engineering subjects and are also subject matter experts. What's catches my interest here is that even though they are thorough with their subjects, they are highly collaborative with their students. Their teaching style is interactive and they ensure that the students understand the difficult and important concepts of a subject in the best way. To do this, they illustrate real life examples and relate those examples to the subject, so that students can grasp the concepts better. Mechanical and Computer Science Branches have the most friendly and the best teachers in our campus. Our teachers also guide us in applying for the internship opportunities to ensure that our learning is not just theoretical but practical as well.

We have a dedicated placement cell at our institute. It helps all our students acquire the right job in the industry of their choice. Our college has many networking events where resource persons from reputed companies give their invaluable guidance to students on applying for the right role and the skills necessary in the job market today. Apart from this our college also organizes resume making workshops to help students create the best ATS free resumes to enhance their chances of getting selected. We also have regular alumni interactions from graduate students working in companies like Adobe, IBM, Amazon and others, to share their valuable experiences in the corporate space of such MNCs. Mock Interviews and Aptitude Training Sessions are also a huge part of the training process to make the students job ready, and to help them take their first step in the corporate world.

We have residential facilities at our institute. There are boys and girls hostels in our campus, with inbuilt mess facilities, sports centers and gym. There are badminton, and basketball courts as well as football, baseball and volleyball courts also. Students staying in the hostel can make use of sports facilities as per their timings. However gym facilities can only be used if the students have a membership for the same. There are rooms with Air Conditioning and an attached bathroom available, for the students to stay. Also, for guests and parents who wish to stay in the campus for some time, there are top notch guest rooms available as well.

The infrastructure is very close to nature. In total there are 3 academic blocks in our college with subsequent departments in each block. The first block has the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, it also has VLSI design labs, Analog and Digital design Labs etc. There is also a coffee center within this block, which is open to everyone. The second block has the department of Computer Science, it has a python laboratory, and other labs as well. Our college also has an IDEA lab where the students can brainstorm on different ideas, build on them and also discuss in a collaborative environment with our fellow faculty members. The third block has the department of Mechanical Engineering with CAD labs and so on. This block also has a recording studio where students can conduct Jamming sessions, and practice for events and so on. Apart from this, our campus also has a cafe where a wide variety of snacks are available, such as samosas, egg puffs and so on. Our college also has a stage where musical and cultural events are performed, and an auditorium where networking events, college day celebrations, pre-placement talks and competitions are held.

The Campus life is immensely vibrant and a learning experience for all. If you have hobbies such as playing music or editing, graphic design and so on, our college has many technical and non technical clubs, for the same. If you are someone who is interested in automotive design or electric vehicles, then there are SAE clubs in our college. If music or cultural art forms inspire you, then there is a cultural committee in our college with a variety of different clubs under it that the students can join. Our techno-cultural fest TIARA, is one of the most revered celebrations in our college, ranging from technical events such as drone racing, bot soccer and many more. As for showcasing different cultures MILAN is our cultural fest, where every culture of our country is celebrated. After the end of each of those events, we have a DJ night where, we all go crazy in a good way. Overall I would say it’s a wonder-filled experience to be a part of this institute.
