Shoolini University B.Sc Review By Kanak Bhardwaj

Most of the students including me were very keen to get into this university located in the mountains, but we all got a little disappointed as the experience is unique but not what we expected. Living in mountains in not an easy task, going to the classes is a hassle, the campus size is comparatively smaller to what other universities offer. Overall, the experience is good in this university but not what we expected. I chose this university for the good environment this university has to offer and also the facilities it has to offer, and for that, I am not disappointed.

The course I have chosen is Bachelor of Science, Biotechnology (honours) which is of 4 years, unlike the 3 years degree other colleges have to offer. The 4th year is dedicated to lab work and research and projects. The entry requirements were very simple as we just needed to submit our 10th and 12th board results and apply with an application form online. Then we needed to give an entrance examination through which the scholarship is decided. I have always been into biology from starting, thus wanted to get in this course.

The faculty is good here. Most teachers are helpful and young, thus they understand our problems easily. They help us in small problems too. All the teachers here are knowledgeable in their respective fields. They are well in touch with the technology and use technology to make us understand the concepts clearly, be it YouTube videos to interest us, or projects to keep our mind working.

There is a dedicated Placement Cell in this university, which contacts other companies. But for our degree, the Placement Cell is not much of use, as most of the students don't want to get into the industry as soon as they finish their degree. They go out to pursue Master's, thus it is good but not of our use, thus, I can't be fully accurate about placements.

Hostels are not directly under Shoolini's authorities but under third party company on contract, GHS. Hostels' rooms are quite big and spacious, with a lot of facilities; they provide basic needs, like mattresses, lamps, and almirahs too. Food also in hostels is not bad, on some days maybe it is bad, but overall the food is good here. They also provide us with common rooms with many games, like pool table, chess, table tennis, etc. The security is also good here. For boys, there are 3 hostels to choose from, with different facilities, and for girls there is one big hostel with a number of blocks.

Infrastructure of this university is 8/10. Despite of being on mountains, it is good to be honest. They have plenty of space in the buildings, with big classes, different blocks for each course, and adequate amount of labs. But the only bad part about it is that due to being on the mountains having big buildings, there is less space for the campus grounds.

Campus life is good. University has many different functions held every week/month to engage students. Different clubs are also present in this university to provide different facilities to different people according to their wish. Fests happen every year with good facilities, not the best though. People like to spend time in the campus at evenings.
