Overall Rating
Overall the institute is good you should join IISER only if you are interested in research field. I want to pursue Mathematics as my major and do a Ph.D in Math that is why I came here. Life is hectic here so if you are not interested you should not come because it will be a huge trouble to handle such a hectic life without motivation.
 

Academics Rating
They offer majorly 5 subjects that are Mathematics, Physics, Earth Science, Life Science, and Chemistry. In the 1st and 2nd semester you have to study all those 5 subjects and in 3rd you will choose 3 from these 5 subjects. In 4th semester you will chose 2 subjects from the previously selected 3 subjects and in 5th semester you have to choose 1 subject that will be your major.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty is good and highly qualified all of them have Ph.D and post doctoral degrees mostly from abroad. They take feedbacks regularly and work upon those. They are helpful in nature. They provide reading materials and assignments as well. You can also meet them in person for your doubts by taking appointments.
 

Placement Rating
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research is meant for research. The curriculum is not job orientated. You can pursue higher education after doing your BS, MS from IISER basically Ph.D, you can do it from abroad or even in India that is upon you to decide. There are no placements here.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel is good. Food is also good in quality. Fees are nominal. There are 3 hostels at IISER KOLKATA, 2 are coed and one is fully for boys.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is something IISER K needs to work on more. There is one lecture hall complex, library, research complex, computer centre and many more things. As per current strength of the college it is sufficient. Everything is well equipped as of now that is because the campus is new.
 

Campus Rating
We have clubs for music, dance, literature, Math, volleyball, Kabaddi, Badminton, football, cricket, movie, astronomy, tennis, table tennis, gym, nature, drama, yoga, basketball, kho-kho, athletics, gaming, and coding. We have a fest called Inquevesta which we organise around January. Campus life is fun here. Everybody is friendly and then people from each region celebrate their cultural festival.
